I guess you've already ascertained that your motherboard and CPU are 64-bit capable? Basically the main reason to go 64-bit is because it's more secure but yes, applications that are memory reliant would be faster assuming you have more memory installed. The max I could squeeze out of my old XP box was about 2.9GB of the 4GB I had installed, now I have 24GB and the system sees all of it. It does make things faster although I don't know that actual 64-bit software is any faster of itself than the 32-bit version would be. I'd have to do some research on that. The olnly recent 64-bit software I tried was the Firefox one and as some of my favourite add-ons no longer worked I ditched it in favour of the 32-bit version.[/QUO
Thanks for reminding me. I just looked and although my processor works for both, according to some of the threads I've read, I may not be able to find 64 bit drivers for my other hardware. I'm thinking there has to be a way to read what I have installed so that I could check it out first. U think running Everest or Aida would tell me? I appreciate it.
