Thanks so much, Peter, for the download links. I'm using Ubuntu, but there are times it is really helpful to have a genuine Windows OS, and I'm hoping to restore a Vista environment on 2 computers.

Was sent here for an iso dvd burn for vista.

The rig is an e-machine et1161-07 windows vista home premium SP1 with AMD Athlon x2 4050e processor.

I used a dvd to wipe the hard drive clean with no problems. The dvd is a Vaio windows vista recovery media for sp1, vgn-ns100e series ( for distribution only with a new Sony pc) it says as well.

When booting with the recovery dvd it brings me to the recovery tools menu but when I try to restore / install the system I get a recovery.exe -

New to the forum so im not 100% on the etiquette but like many others here I have vista ult oem that died on me and I don't have my cd from Dell anymore (who does). Could I request a 64bit link?

Thanks again, worked like a charm. I always preferred vista over 7 when I was shopping for pc's. Only wish I spent the extra money buying all ultimates so I can network them properly

I'm "all 7 and 8.1" now so am ready for the 10 upgrade which will in turn necessitate dozens of "fixes" to make it look like 7, but I know what you mean. Many people hated Vista, I loved it.
