WOW!!!! A lot of updates. Now I am scratching my head. I used Firefox ESR 52.9.0 (32-bit) to access the forum and download the updates using the link http://gh.api.99988866.xyz/github.com/Chuyu-Team/Dism-Multi-language/releases/download/v10.1.1002.1/Dism++10.1.1002.1.zip. I updated/ installed the updates per the instructions. All seem to go pretty good except some updates failed, some weren't checked so I didn't install them, (hope that's correct) had a few successful. The majority of the updates were install and said "Requested restart". I went through a;; the updates then I restarted my PC per the "Requested restart". Upon reboot I got the message about not turning off the PC cause updates were being configured. Here's what happened, after a lengthy configuring time. I got a message on my monitor that said " Updates were not configured correctly. Reverting changes.

So is it telling me that after all that time the updates can't be installed? Do I need to try this all over again? This is a head banger for me. Thanks in advance for all your help

I have just tested on a fresh virgin installation of ultimate x86 from en_windows_vista_with_sp2_x86_dvd_342266.iso

1. Installed the updates from the first list using dism++

a) select the updates from the PREx86 folder ( i.e. the first list) starting with the KB2

There are 63 starting with KB2. This is quite a powerful machine , so I put in all 63 at once

If you have a low power machine, better to to do it in batches. Do the first 30 or so KB2s - starting from the lowest number - reboot- then the rest of the KB2s

Select Updates in the left pane. Click the ADD button and browse.





Select all the updates starting with KB2



Off she goes





REBOOT

Next, select all the updates from the PREx86 folder ( first list) starting with KB3

If you have a puny laptop, better to to do it in batches.

Do the first 35 or so - starting from the lowest number - reboot- then the rest of the KB3s

Do the same with KB4 and KB9 from the PREx86 folder (the first list ). REBOOT

Now it should be like this ( might be slightly fewer for lower editions than ultimate because a few will be not applicable )

Next do the same with updates from the ADDx86 folder (the second list ), rebooting after each batch.

You can select wu-ie9-windowsvista-x86_kb982861.exe and ie9-windows6.0-kb4014661-x86.cab. Dism++ will install those fine.

After adding the updates from the ADDx86 folder (the second list ), it will be something like this:

Next, run dism++ and select Updates > SCAN

You need to get dism++ to install netframework 35 and then all the updates for nf35. It might struggle with downloading them, just try again. Sometimes takes 3 goes.
Then reboot and SCAN again.

I got bsod from KB2545698 so it is probabaly best avoided.

If you get these pop ups from dism++ Dont panic. On x86 rundll will often crash. Dism++ restarts rundll and it all completes fine, but it still likes to tell you about it afterwards

Thanks. Hmmmm. Sorry but I am not sure which one of your post to follow. A bit confused. So what I did was went through the procedure as I did in the post I sent on Yesterday at 1:13 PM (12-6). Opened the Dism++10.1.1002.1.zip., scan and then installed updates. Of course I got the same results as on yesterday. Then I tried to follow your recent post. However I wasn't able to get to the the screens that you showed in your post.

Download the updates first using what is provided in the zip files.

Unzip them directly onto the hard disk. So you have C:\PREx86 folder and C:\ADDx86 folder

Then rt click the wget-PRE.cmd file and run as adminstrator. That will download the updates into the same folder.

The first folder is called PREx86.





The second folder is called ADDx86




After the updates have been downloaded
Click Updates in dism++ left pane.
Then click ADD.
Then a browse window opens.
Browse to C:\PREx86 folder
and select the KB2s.

Hello and Thanks again. Here is an update. I followed the steps outlined in your post from Monday at 6:41 PM (12-6). Everything went ok when I was adding the updates from the PREx86 folder. No problem, But did have issues when installing from the ADDx86 folder. Here is an outline of what I did and what happened. Maybe I did something wrong or omitted a step. This is what I got when I installed the KB2’s from ADDx86 folder:


Also I noticed when I clicked on the ADDx86 folder, there were other updates besides the KB2’s.

I didn’t add them. Was I suppose to?

I could not find this file. I was able to find and download the file wu-ie9-windowsvista-x86_kb982861, but not the one with .exe

Note Download Failed. I restarted my pc. At this point I stopped because I wasn’t sure where to go next to find and download .......to install netframework 35 and then all the updates for nf35. Again. Thanks for your time and help. I really appreciate it

The list is for Ultimate edition.

Lower editions do not need all of the updates that are for ultimate.

Therefore there will be a few that are not applicable.

It doesnt matter. If they are not applicable, they will not be integrated, which is what the dism++ message says. That is to be expected. Dont worry about it.

Some of the others dont download on the first try via dism++. You might need to try several times.

I was able to find and download the file wu-ie9-windowsvista-x86_kb982861, but not the one with .exe

The ie9 setup looks like this



It is from the ms download catalog and has that long hash number appended

OK. Thanks for your reply. So base on the results of my steps that I posted above, does it appear that I have finally gotten my Vista back to date and running as it should? Is there any thing else that I should check for or do? Also are your saying that I can download ie9 on my Istanbul machine and it will run ok? Thanks

IE9 is pretty much useless these days. Check out the forum Browser section for alternates.
