hi

im running a dell laptop with vista home

i recently reinstalled the os and am having login issues

there is one user account and when i startup or come back from sleep, i have to click on my user account before entering password

is there a way to make it automatically select this account and display enter password rather than me having to click account first? i do want to require a password

it used to be the way i want it but cant remember what i did to make it that way

thanks

Welcome to the Forum

Your account behaves as though there is another, but yet there is not.
I would run an antivirus scan just to be sure there is nothing there causing the computer to act as though there are two account. Download and run malware bytes to be sure.

I would then try to change the password. Possibly this will cause the computer to react normally.

Finally run an sfc
Type cmd in search. Then do not hit enter, just right click and run as administrator.
In the prompt type sfc /scannow.

Probably deleting the account and opening a new one would work.

If these simple steps do not work, and others come by with reg hacks etc. I would not try it. A very small problem (acutally annoyance) and you do not want it to become a major problem.
