Hi,
After 2 mins of normal booting the screen went blank, as soon as I clicked on that quick tool bar warning message.

Hi ken,

I'm also using F8 to boot into safe mode.
C:\>sfc /scannow
Verfication 100%complete.
Windows REsource Protection did not find any integrity violations.

I have done this after applying Archie's solution. Do I need to enable all those services and then issue this command again?

what should I do now, still problem is not resolved?
Anyways,I have to return this machine(using now to connect to net) to my neighbour, so will not be able to contact you people on forum till tomorrow morning.
Is there any way that I can connet to net in safe mode. so that I can resolve the issue to night itself.

you can boot into safe mode with networking. its one of the options on the boot screen, the browser may not work, but try it

can you also try one more thing :)

before you boot into safe mode (after pressing F8) you are presented with an option screen (safe mode being the first option) at the bottom there is an option to boot in low resolution video 640x480 , could you try this option and see what happens

Hi,

Suprisingly my laptop is working fine from past 4 hours in normal mode. don't know when it will turn up with any problem again.
All I have done is,
1>As Archie said, Clean boot- but no use
So remade all the changes
and then
2>As Ken and others said, sfc /scannow at command prompt. It said there are no integrity violations. After restart nothing changed.
3>Then I booted up 'Safe mode with networking' to use net and worked for almost 2 hours.
Later when I restarted everything was normal. :D
Can anyone state what caused the problem and what made it work again.
And one more thing, if I face it again, can I continue with same post later.
Regards,
Joshna

Hi,

It all started back again. :(
When I'm working on some program suddenly screen will go blank for 10 sec. After that 'Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and recovered successfully'

Later screen will go pink, vertical bars and blank screennnnnnnnnnn.

I'm not able to do anything. What is happening.

Please, Please tell me some solution to get rid of this.

Regards,
Joshna

This solution comes with a money back guarantee (pay the man, Ken)...

During the installation of the most current Vista drivers, an OLD file
nvlddmkm.sys is copied into windows/system32/drivers and not the current one
in the install.

Fix: Go to windows/system32/drivers and rename nvlddmkm.sys to
nvlddmkm.sys.old. Go to the nvidia directory and find the file nvlddmkm.sy_
and copy it to windows/system32. Using the cmd window (DOS box) type
EXPAND.EXE nvlddmkm.sy_ nvlddmkm.sys. When the expansion is complete, copy
the new nvlddmkm.sys to windows/system32/drivers and restart the computer.

Your computer should now work properly.

You will notice that any uninstall and reinstall of nvidia drivers will not
remove the old nvlddmkm.sys file and will not overwrite it with the newer
version. You have to do it manually. I do not know why this happens but who
cares as long it is fixed.

I just had a user in win 7 where after 3 attempts using symantec's own removal tool with no success the user had to clean install killing his entire semester of his masters degree.

he had a backup, unfortunately he did it within windows and didnt check to see if it was "working". If I ever had a piece of advice it would be Backup, backup, and then backup. First backup to a different partition, second backup to a different computer, and third backup to a different location.

I dont think more than 10% of the users have a backup of any kind

And adding one more piece of advice... practice restoring an unimportant file or directory. If you can't do it during a practice, you won't be able to do it when needed.
