You can not upgrade a 32-bit Windows to a 64-bit, or vice versa. The only possibility is to do a clean install. When doing a clean install, you lose everything you had. You must reinstall all the applications, drivers and personal files.

You can in-place upgrade (keep your settings, files and apps) only when both the old and the new OS are the same, either 32-bit or 64-bit. Read more about in-place upgrade here.

You could learn more about upgrading and installing on our sister forums, the Seven Forums.

I cant believe I just sat here and typed for abou 15 minutes, only to hit the wrong key and lose it all:mad:
ANYway...Can you give some info about the system. Cant go far without that.:)
You cant install a x64 bit OS on a 32bit(X86) platform, if thats the case.

If i wanted to upgrade to 64 from32 clean install will it keep my drivers eg
And those are two different installs. One suggest a "merge" of sorts, and a clean install means completely removing the previous OS and installing a "CLEAN" new OS. You can read Brinks tutorial for more info. (Sorry, I HAD typed it all out for you, but...)
It is in the Windows & forum here as well:

Let me know about that system, and I'll help you all I can.
