Hi Lee,

I would just create another user account temporarily, and copy the shortcuts over to the hidden folder C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs , then delete the new account. This will save you some time from trying to track them all down. You will still have to manually create the other program shortcuts though.

This tutorial will help with the Start menu:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/79571-start-menu-shortcuts.html

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Lee,

LOL, I hear you. Sometimes a reinstall is just quicker to make sure it will work. ;)

Once you get everything setup and running smoothly, I would recommend that you do a Complete PC Backup since you have the Ultimate Vista edition. This way it will only take only about an hour to be fully restored with everything. I use a separate partition to make it easier to keep the backup up to date when you make changes.

unreal mate it happend again lol

i have tried to open a new account but they are gone from the folder totaly so they won't show in the new account

i think i know whats doing it (sortoff)

when i setup windows after loading up my programs i try to limit what programs start on bootup, when i do this i go to msconfig and take the unneeded ones out the startup and reboot

the 3 programs i took out of startup where adobereader powerdvd 8 and nero 8 BUT saying that id just installed powerdvd 8 so it could have been just that fact that i had installed powerdvd but i doubt it cos it happend with powerdvd 7 also last time i installed vista some 2 days ago lol

ive found alot of the shortcuts and replaced them but there are alot that i can't find.

brink would there be any chance you could copy your default vista shortcuts from the folder :o and upload them or email me them

Thanks Shawn. LOL Dwarf left a tutorial link on the systems score thread. It was easier than i thought. Didn't strain even one of my two brain cells. (He said confidently before getting the darn things to actually post lol.

Anyways Lee, here in two parts is my shortcut menu. I guess I could have left off part2 but i think there may be one or two original items there at the bottom. shortcuts1.jpg
