Hi again Finally managed to get back to XP desktop without reinstalling. Had some probs with some probs but all fine now except a glitch with my HP All in One printer. The gist is that I need to fully remove all the components before reinstalling the software. It's a long story and I've posted queries on the HP website and tried everything suggested to no avail.

When I follow the uninstall tut it confirms that it's removed everything. When I try and reinstall I get an error message stating that a leter version of the prog is already installed. It's a vicious circle as I now have all the XP progs on drive E and there's no HP progs left on that partition. I've also deleted every HP ref in the registry etc etc.

However, when I run msconfig (start tab) it shows about 8 HP progs still on the K drive which was the old XP partition before I got the reppair facility on the XP disk to work. According to Windows Explorer the K drive doesn't exist in XP but it obviously still does. What's frustrating is that I can't highlight these HP progs showing in msconfig to delete them.

Can anyone suggest a way of deleting these.
Many thanks

Hi

Have already tried that uninstaller prog but no joy. I've also deleted those progs K progs using regedit but still get the fatal error message when trying to reinstall my C4600 HP All in one.

The message is A later bversion of 32bit CIO installer is already installed. Fatal error MSI.dot4wrp01. I've reserached all the stuff on web about this and tried everything.

Will have to pursue with HP

How bizarre.

Thanks

Hi,

Look on your installation disk: -

This route is for extreme issues, wherein repeated uninstall/reinstall failed. It will completely remove everything and reinstall the software fresh.

Steps:

Using your CD, explore to contents of your CD and launch the following uninstallation files:

Where “X:\” is the drive location of your disc.
  • x:\Util\CCC\Uninstall-L1
  • x:\Util\CCC\Uninstall-L2
  • x:\Util\CCC\Uninstall-L3
If you run L4 then caution is needed!
  • x:\Util\CCC\Uninstall-l4, It may damage your computer by clearing too much "HP software" off it.
