Web Browser For Vista Extended Kernel

no, the mail never arrieved despite clicking many times on "Resend email"...

Hi Joadix100:

Just an FYI that I tried changing my email address in my MSFN account today and couldn't because the validation email never arrived - see my post today in the MSFN Site & Forum Issues board at Unable to Change to Microsoft Email Address in MSFN Account. As erpster4 noted above in post # 50, many users have reported the same problem if they try to use their Microsoft (Hotmail/Outlook/Live) and/or GMail email address with their MSFN account.

I'll leave it to you guys to figure it out. I didn't have anything else to add anyhow. Of course, it looks like we're straying from the purpose of the original post.

There has been more discussion of Edge on page 140 of the Windows Vista Extended Kernel thread. Sergiaws now says he first installed Edge on a Windows 7 VM, then copied the folder to Vista. He has a higher reputation than others who have said that Edge works. (I’m not sure why anyone with Windows 7 would want to run Vista now.)

If you are still only interested in modern Chromium browsers that can be installed, then perhaps you should concentrate on Chrome.
I tried installing chrome with the normal installer (not msi) and it gave me an error, Couldnt find updates or something like that, and refused to install

I recently installed 360 Chrome v13.5.2............. at the suggestion of someone in another thread and it works like a champ in Vista. You have to put up with a little chinese in some areas which I haven't been able to get it to translate to English but those areas aren't really that important to me.

He’s got Edge working! Who needs Chinese junkware? (As I mentioned in another thread, MSFN members have made modified versions without the Chinese language or telemetry for Windows XP that can be used on Vista without extended kernel.)

Sort of, it is like a diesel in cold weather, you have to start it several times for it not to crash, after that, it works perfectly, but i got tired of it and left it installed in the hope that it gets fixed in the next exkernel update, now i am using Chrome v107, even updates work

Yeh, Vistaar is right. After I responded, I remembered you have the extended kernel but was too lazy to come back and edit. I don't mind Edge except I haven't figured out how to customize it to show all the various bars like in IE. Have to admit I haven't spent much time with it because Firefox works just fine, other than it being slow to load.

i guess win32 is planning a solution, since web browsers are the primary reason for the ExKernel to exist in the first place, but he has time, even after Chrome v110 launches, v109 will continue to work and it will be usabe for probably many years, and after that, maybe windows 10 OS spoofing and a more capable extended kernel will solve the problem, when chrome v110 launches im going to install it and see if the spoofing alone works

...I'm looking for Chromium Based browsers...
On February 7, 2023, Google released a stable version of Chrome 110 that will not work on Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or even Windows Vista with the current extended kernel. Other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge, Brave and Opera are also ending support for older versions of Windows. Slimjet 38 is based on Chromium 109 and has received a couple of bug fixes, so it can be said to support Windows 7 for the time being. Developer win32 has posted that he is devoted to the Chromium issue, so perhaps a solution will be forthcoming, although there is no guarantee of success. In any case, Chromium 110 is currently out of reach unless you are running Windows 10 or 11. :(

well thats good news, i think Slimjet will do the same in some time, they backported chrome 50 on Vista and XP, it is likely that they will backport at least 1 version of chrome for Win 7 and 8.1

System One

  • Operating System
    Windows Vista and 8.0.
At this moment I can run 111.0.5535 on Vista! Only with modified DWrite.dll and rewrited some two dll's.
Looking forward to the x86 build, so I can try it on my Dell Latitude Notebook. It has Vista Home Basic. This is quite an impressive development
