I think that I tried to install Chrome one time (don't ask me why I would do something silly like that) and it said it wasn't compatible with my OS.

For information, I tried to view video at YouTube last night using IE 11 on my Win 7 system and it wouldn't let me because IE 11 doesn't support HTML 5. Firefox works.

I'm just relaying what the actual YouTube message was. I didn't intend to go into any discussion about it. I'm just saying even Win 7 is susceptible to the same kind of problems as Vista.

I hadn't tried it in IE 9. When I went to YouTube it said that my browser is no longer supported and asked me to update. I clicked on Remind Me Later, it opened YouTube. Some videos were simply black screens, others played and some gave me the same HTML5 message. When I click on the message to see the policy, it takes me back to the screen that says my browser isn't supported. I'm not using the same version of IE 9 since I didn't install any of the 20008 updates as discussed in another thread. Search on Fishing Naked and try to play it.

In regards to IE 11, it does behave similar to what I see in IE 9. Just depends on the video. Need to do some more checking.

I think you mean related to Windows 7.

As I mentioned in the other thread, I didn't intend to discuss the Win 7 behavior here. I might try disabling the Flash add-on to see if it makes a difference.

I don't know what they did in Win 10 to make HTML5 and IE 11 more friendly to one another. There's plenty of blogs where that's not the case but those aren't recent.

My comment was made in the thread concerning the latest version of AFP. If it's the same thread, where are those posts? I made that comment about discussing it was because it was off topic.

In some blogs concerning this problem in Win 7, people found that disabling Flash solved their problem (I'm not going to chase those down again). The other possible fix was to make sure that "Enable alternative codecs for HTML5 media elements" is enabled in the Advanced Internet Options. It was enabled in IE 11 and, surprisingly, it's enabled in IE 9.

I rarely log into YouTube unless it asks me to. I can give that a try but it won't be until tomorrow night. I tried it in IE 9 but it wouldn't work for the video under question, as well as others chosen at random.

It doesn't work for that video when logged in. I also tried disabling Flash as well as VLC. I sent a troubleshoot request to YouTube (available by right clicking error screen). I'll post their response if I get one.

Welcome back to Vista Forums virtual6! It's been nearly 3 years since you posted; do you really still have a Vista system? My old "Model V" is still chugging along. I belatedly took your advice and started using Sandboxie, which makes me less afraid to take it out of the garage from time to time.

I may post something in an old sticky thread before long (having resolved never to start another new post at this forum), but my hint is Yandex.
