Solved what is downloading and why?

hi

i have an issue relating to downloading.
i have rainmeter installed and have an ip monitor monitoring my upload n download speed.
and am noticing high download figures when im not downloading anything myself?
is there a way to find out what is down loading at any given time.
to determine weather or not it is malicious for instance..

You can use perfmon <-- type it in the start menu, then click the network tab. It'll say it there.

Its not a tab up to, but in the center, just click the word.

im sorry i thought you meant the cpuid program called perfmon.exe but you meant reliability and performance monitor within win vista. is that right?

No, not the cpuid one.. I just type perfmon into a run window (win key + r)

thats what i tried and got cpuid one

but then i tried the reliability performance monitor and saw my downloads there so thanks for helping it tells me whats downloading. so i can keep an eye on it when it looks suspiciously high again. thanks

thanks it probably was but did not recieve any win updates so was suspiciously high could of been norton definitions updating but thats why i wanted a way of checking. thanks again

Maybe in vista you have to go via perfmon, then click Resource Monitor to get to it. Either way, it is Resource Monitor which has the Network Tab:

Yha, Vista doesn't have resmon as a exe just permon which in Vista is reliability and performance monitor.

The Win 7 one is a lot more detailed than Vista.

RamMap from SysInternals does a good job of displaying a memory usage bar graph.
