Whats your internet speed?

Just tried a tracert. Isn't too bad (I have seen ms in the thousands before, when testing the network at peak times, although I suspect that that isn't to do so much with peak times as unreliability on the phone line)

Threason mine is higher is because when our Internet broke a BT guy came over and said that he was going to replace the Limiter at the Exchange box to a better one

So now someone else in out Estate has slower speeds - And we are only paying for 2MB/s speed :)

The further away you are from the Exchange box the slower the speeds

Maybe you should try Mobile Broadband
Well, I am glad for you! We hit about 5kb/s on mobile :( At the back of the house.

Seeing as house prices are pretty high at the moment, it would probably be cheaper to merge two ADSL cables!

Dang. I'm in the US and I max out at 150 kilobytes/sec download. Only because the one company that provides internet to my area (it's not even rural!) is Qwest, and they charge stupidly high rates if you're not a new member. And to be a new member you have to quit using them for at least a year. And there's no way I'm giving up Internet for a year. I just wish Comcast would put a line through. I basically pay for 30 Meg/sec, but don't get it because they're stupid and don't have any respectable upgrade options. Sorry for the rant :) I'd like die for those 2 meg/sec download speeds haha.

I'm surprised that you haven't got more than one alternative. Are you sure? I've just checked, and there are a number of ISPs serving Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Internet Service Providers Isp | Internet Service Providers Isp in Albuquerque, NM - YP.com
Oh I don't live in Albuquerque. I'm about 45 min away in Belen. Well, more like the outskirts of Belen. Although I haven't actually checked for new ISP services in a while... maybe I will. Just figured I'd end up hearing about it if someone new started serving my area.

The last time I checked, Comcast told me I have the "Performance" tier of 12/2.

This is with one of the new(ish) ubee DDM-3513 DOCSIS 3.0 cable modems Comcast is handing out. (I exchanged my comparatively ancient Thomson/RCA last weekend.) Handling LAN traffic is a D-Link DIR-825 (ver A, fw 1.01) dual-band (2.4/5GHz) wireless router. All wired connections are GbE.
