Hi can someone help me. I have a laptop running windows vista home premium, it froze when I was on the desktop so I had to force shutdown. When I started it up again my user account now required me to put a password to log in of which it never required one before the crush and also a new user was created. I tried to reset this password which just appeared from nowhere by log in through safe mode and as soon as I try to open the control panel in safe mode it shuts me down and most of the time I can`t acess safe mode. I then made a Ophcrack usb to try and crack the password but it shows three user accounts all without any password on the so I can`t crack anything. I have tried the recovery disc it just runs a test and the says no error, I can`t system restore. I don`t want to format the whole system as I have some valuable files on it.
Please if you have an idea to solve this issue without lossing saved files please help.

Hello and welcome to the forum.

When you boot can you get into any account, to be able to reset the password you have to have access to the administrator account. You might try booting into safe mode and click the start orb and at the top of the pop up menu either double click or right clcik the picture this might take you straight to the account's section.

Hi,

Following your earlier statement regarding "Cracking" I am sure that this site will not help you in that respect.

What I would suggest is a full malwarebytes check : - Malwarebytes if you can get into the system.

If not, a full recovery back to day one of the system is the best way forward.
