Solved Where is Group Policy Editor

On advice of a magazine article I was trying to access 'gpedit.msc' from a start search.
Nothing came up, not even in the admin account.
Anyone know how I can access this ?

I'm afraid that the Local Group Policy Editor is not available in the Vista Home Basic edition.

I am seeing downloads for home/starter however since they aren't from Microsoft I wouldn't trust them.

What were you wanting to do? You could also set it manually in the registry instead though.

There was supposed to be a way to speed up internet access but I'll just stick with it now.

Prefer not to tinker with registry - too scary !

They are 100% safe for what they are intended to do. I created them myself. That's just a standard warning message you will get anytime that you try to open any file that came from an external unknown source.
