Solved Which ones to install first?

I did a clean install using the tutorial as a guide on a 64 bit machine. It was seamless and worked perfectly. Now I have 70 "important" updates, but I am hesitant because I don't know which ones I should install first. They are not dated as far as I can see unless I look at each one individually. I have downloaded to my computer but not installed any yet. Using SP1 from one year ago. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Clean Install with a Full Version of Vista

Hello Mariel, and welcome to Vista Forums.

I would recommend to only install the ones that it has selected by default, and to not select any others to install at the same time. Afterwards only install a few at a time to avoid them possible conflicting with each other during installation.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Ok thank you for prompt response. The thing is, all 70 are selected. So I thought maybe I should select the earlier dates first. But, for instance, the SP2, does it contain cumulative updates from before it was issued? or should I go back and install all the earlier updates before doing SP2. Thanks for your advice.

I would install SP2 first, then the other updates a few at a time afterwards. :)

I just reinstalled my pre-SP1 Vista today. I ran into about 100 updates today and there is no end in sight because I am not even at SP1 level yet. I installed all hundred without a problem. I prefer big batches because of the permanent rebooting one needs to do.

I found that I have to install the SP1 important updates before I can install SP2. So I am doing that now, but slowly and carefully. Thanks for your advice.
