Solved Why don't I have Windows Movie Maker 6???

Windows insists that Vista always came preprogrammed with movie maker version 6. However, my Vista Home Premium has version 2.6. (computer purchased December 2007) This is annoying because many of the finest software programs developed such as those for creating spectacular vid transitions and effects work only with version 6. Apparently there is no way to download version 6 for Vista anymore? Can someone explain how I got 2.6 with my computer when everyone else seems to have version 6? Thanks in advance.

No, that's what I mean. That link states that version 6 is preinstalled, which it wasn't on my computer, I've already checked that.

I think you have MM2.6 because your video card does not support MM6.0

It's usually caused by the graphics not supporting hardware acceleration.

From the Microsoft download page for Windows Movie Maker 2.6:

If you get an error message that says, "Windows Movie Maker cannot start because your video card does not support the required level of hardware acceleration or hardware acceleration is not available", download and install Movie Maker 2.6.
