Windows 7 over Vista 32 bit

Hi folks humor this 74 year old duffer who is having computer problems.

I have tried to research this and get a lot of conflicting answers and/or assumptions.I figured if I came right to the horse's mouth I would get the correct skinny.

I know very little about computers but if installed a new OS is as simple as putting the Windows 7 software CD in the drive and following on screen instruction I'm home scott free.

I do have a couple of questions first tho.

#1.If my Vista has some virus problems, what ever it may be, will Win 7 install properly and not have any problems and most of all get by and around any virus?

#2.Will Win 7 upgrade all of my existing programs, bring up email addresses, any and all documents, photos etc

#3.The existing computer is only 1GB will that handle Win 7,I don't need all the bells and whistles.

TIA

I will get you doucmentation in a few mninute
But a clean install is always best, and that does not save programs etc
If you have a virus you should do a clean install with format, and that does not save your programs.

Some free advice, when you buy your 7 DVD, buy the much cheaper upgrade edition. It is much cheaper and you CAN do a clean install with the upgrade. You CAN also upgrade, and save your programs etc, but this is NOT the way to go.
To reinstall your programs all that is needed is your key number and the install DVD.

IGB is the suggested minimum, but even without the "bells and whistles" dont expect very good performance. Personally, I would not get 7 with 1GB.

It is very easy to back up everything, except programs, if you want to go that direction, just post.
You just need a cheap finger drive (thumb drive, flash drive) and you can back up.

No Dick,
I do not know where you got that information. All you have to do is boot from the DVD and follow a few easy instructiions that will appear on the screen
Go to you tube, put in the search install windows 7 and you will see how easy it is
Im am sure that you have a basic Vista install, again very easy to get a basic install of 7.

This means I do not need to wipe the hard drive or worry about any possible existing virus.

Okay assuming the answers to the questions in the OP are #1 yes,#2 no and should I add some memory?
