windows 8.1

hi everyone

I am trying to upgrade to windows 8.1, but I need two updates.

KB2871389 is already installed, but KB2917499 is not, I have tried to install this one manually but when I download
and try to install it says that I cannot install on my machine. Can anyone please help.

Are you trying to upgrade from Vista? I didn't think that was possible.

Oh I see. Well I could continue this over at eightforums.com. Nonetheless, you might want to look at this:
cannot install KB2917499, it says it's not applicable to my - Microsoft Community

Some hardware was able to run the x64 version of Windows 8 but NOT Windows 8.1, because of compatibility issues with the processor's security features. That may be a reason.
