I am based in the UK and using windows vista 32.

I have looked in to how to resolve this matter but cannot seemto follow the instructions on how to resolve this issue.

In event manager, application tab reads - Level = error, with a, red ! Source = Application Error Event ID reads 1000 and Task category = (100)

I have a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop with intel Pentium DualCore inside running vista home premium.

I have 119 gb free of 232 gb

Please can you help?

I would be eternally grateful if you can.

Thank you

Welcome
Dont worry too much about your situation. You can downlaod ccleaner, its free. It will do a job at least a good and probably better than cleanup.

If you run the .exe file as the administrator, do you get the problem? You shouldn't get that error from a Windows .exe file. Perhaps it's corrupted. You might try running Fix It or, as the more advanced guys recommend, run SFC /scannow as the administrator and see if it comes up with an error.

Guys;

wither 3 – yes as administrator I get the same issue.

Rich46 – when I select to run it as administrator I get thecmd prompt flash up then that’s that.

I have ran the sfc before and found no problems.

Your problem is identical as those who do not run as administrator correctly. Since you have ran it already without problems, run a full anti virus scan and then download and run a full scan with malwarebytes.

I'm a little confused.

When I said to run as administrator, you would have to find the .exe file, right click on it and select "run as administrator". Did you do that.

Second, it doesn't sound like you are able to run SFC right now because of some problem. It may be the same problem causing the clean disk utility from running.

Doing what Richc46 asked may be a wise choice.

I have already done a fullmalwarebytes antimalware scan without any problems showing up.

In regards to finding the .exe file, I located it in system32 and the scan scenario is the same as I mentioned earlier.

I have also done a full scan with Avast and it showed nothing detected

The best solution may be a repair install. Do you have your Vista install DVD?

I did a repair from the vista home premium disc that came with the laptop when I purchased it and this has not worked either.
