Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

Everytime I'm playing a game or I log back on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5610Z, SP1 Vista Home Premium).

I get this message:

Windows host process (Rundll32) has stopped working

I do not know why I get this.

And for the love of god I DO NOT HAVE "NERO" on my laptop because people say nero causes it.

hello
check the properties of the Rundll32 file and see if it is the same size as mine (see attached)
if its smaller than mine it is bad & needs to be replaced..... post back with your findings....good luck

Re: May I get some help here.

Hi, I woul make sure Windows and all your drivers are up to date and then run a check for registry errors using a program such as CCleaner .

Please post back with any results.

Re: May I get some help here.

Hello pinakfans,
It may help if you check your file system.
Open a command prompt as administrator and type sfc/scannow this will check and repair the OS file system, you may need to run it more than once if errors are found.
Good luck and post your results.

Hello there pinakfans!

You say you have Vista Home Premium SP1. If you have the time could you at least upgrade to SP2. Upgrading to SP2 might solve the problem...

Have you even tried sp2? If not, upgrade to that and see if rundll 32 starts working, if not you can just go back with a restore point, or some other way on uninstalling a service pack, so we can rule out malware.

hello, you can try to replace it and see if that fixes the problem... I have just uploaded mine, a known good copy. (vista premium 32bit).... here is the link... rundll32.exe

It may give you trouble trying to delete your file, you may need to take ownership of the file to delete it.....good luck with whatever you decide!!

here is a take ownership zip file just dbl click it and it will (should) give full ownership...again ... good luck.... http://www.mediafire.com/file/hqmznwhyni0/TakeOwnership.zip
