as far as i can tell there is no problem there.

the error code for the problem is 80048820.

i have spent all day searching for answers and a solution to this problem, and have tried everything that is suggested on at this link

Windows Live Help

and still nothing.

i have also tried here but still nothing

Msn Errors: error code 80048820

i have tried uninstalling the program from my computer, then reinstalling it and still no success.

does anyone have any ideas on how to sort this problem out?

thanks a lot

josh

My Computer

Hello joshhammond,
This is one fix from MS,

To troubleshoot the problem on a Windows Vista-based computer:

1. Click Start, type control timedate.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.

2. In the Date and Time Properties dialog box, confirm that the date and time settings on the computer are correct, and then click OK.

Here is another one.

MSN Messenger - ERROR 80048820 FIX

  • Click Start icon (Start Menu)
  • Type "regsvr32 softpub.dll" (without the quotes)

  • In what will seem like a split second, literally 1/100ths of a second you should see a new window pop up as per below.

  • You should now be able to log into MSN.
I hope one of these work, good luck and post your results.

I had the same issue at one time, along with one that said "username or password is incorrect". What I had to actually do was(not sure why really) go into IE and reset IE settings to default. It worked, and I'm not entirely sure why. It did this quite often but just stopped happening all of a sudden.
I don't use IE for anything at all so it wasn't a big deal.

Hope at least one of the suggestions works for you.
