Solved Windows Mail: Not receiving attachments from HTML messages...

Hi all,

I have been reading through forums all day to find a solution.

I am running Vista with Windows Mail.
I am not able to receive attachment from my boss who is running Windows 7 & Outlook.

I have been on his computer and found that he is sending HTML messages (not RTF). I also tried changing my email settings in his address book send plian text only to me. Nothing.

I found update KB905866 on my update list. I read that this was a Windows Mail update for spam. I deleted it and I am still having the problem.

If you can help, that would be amazing!
Ashley

Richard,
Thanks for the quick response.
I followed the link and the instructions.
There is NO check mark next to "Block images and other external content in HTML e-mail."
There shouldn't be, correct?
Thanks, Ashley

Sorry for the delay. I had to let Windows Live Mail import everything from Windows Mail.
There was no tools, but I did find the Safety Options, etc.
There is NO check next to "Block images..."
I am now about to start the clean boot.

Richard,
Thank you for your patience!
I ran through the clean boot. I ended with only one check mark on Norton and the attachments were still not coming through.
Do you have any suggestions to fix this?

If it helps, I will not be renewing Norton in the 23 days of subscription I have left. (Lucky timing?)
I will be switching to ESET. It may not be worth fixing at this point...
Should I just keep what I have until I uninstall Norton and install ESET?
Thank you,
Ashley

LOL Norton may be the cause.
AV often cause problems like this. For a test untick Norton and lets see what happens. Dont be discouraged if it does not work, I have other ideas, too.

Install MSE Security Essentials.

I unchecked Norton and restarted.
Norton still started though....
I went back to msconfig and it was still checked (I know I unchecked it)...

I have Norton completely uninstalled and am now waiting on my boss to email me from Outlook (he is on the phone in front of his computer).

If it works or not, begin to use Security Essentials.
Also
Download and use Malwarebytes.
Together they do a great job a no problems.

If the mail still does not work, try in another user account. Your account could be the cause of the problem.

I have an attachment!!!!!
There must have been some update within the last few months.
I have never really enjoyed Norton...
Thank you so much!
I will follow your link to the MSE Security Essentials.
Thanks again for everything and for all your patience,
