Solved Windows Mail Problem

I'm having an issue with Windows Mail that came with Vista, which may or may not be created to the system restore I did a couple of days ago (see this thread for details). I have duplicate mail folders for all my basic folder types (Local Folders, Inbox, Deleted, Drafts, Junk, Sent). In addition, two new folders were created:
03-12-2011 17-48-53
03-12-2011 23-10-55
I recognize the 03-12-2011 as the date these folders were created (I didn't intentionally create them though). I don't know where the numbers that are coming after them came from or what they refer to. Furthermore, some of the folders that I created a while ago now suddenly have a few extra characters placed after the regular folder name, e.g. Blue Cross c4b. Again, I didn't put in these extra characters.
I attached a screenshot. How can I remove these duplicate folders and get back the original folder names? It seems like there was some sort of systematic thing that was applied that needs to be undone. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks for the help. I exported the folders I wanted to keep. At this point, what is the best way to delete the account? Is there a way to uninstall and then reinstall Windows Mail, or should I just delete all the folders and then import the folders I want to keep?

I would just delete the folders you don't want...

After you delete them there are a couple of things that I would do...

If you stiil find yourself with a problem with windows mail you can always do a system restore starting by going back 5 days before you noticed the problems with W-male. This is how it works let say you did a restore going back 7 days, whatever you have done between now and the 7 days ago you would lose but not your documents, pictures etc...

Now I would do the sfc /scannow because it can repair a lot of things in your system here's how. After the scan, if it shows any errors then run the full sfc 3 times. Note there is a space between the sfc and the forward slash. This is real easy to do and it will fix a lot of things, please report back to us when you have finished so we can see how it went. Just follow the instructions and you willl be just fine thats why you have tools already in your computer. The tutorial will show you how. The easest is this.

1. Click start...
2. Type CMD in the searh box...
3. At the top of your pop up list the cmd.exe will be there...
4. Right click the cmd.exe and then click run as administrator...
5. When the command box comes up then you type the sfc /scannow.

That's it...

Thanks americancritic. I deleted the extraneous folders, and imported back what I wanted to hold onto. I just did the sfc /scannow command a few days ago when troubleshooting the other issue I was having. Looks like things are OK now, I'll follow up if necessary though.
