"windows media player network sharing service stopped working and was closed"

I must have the lame version of Vista because my DRM file is under Windows\ProgramData\DRM. The directory is empty, and there is no tools I can pull up.

If it helps, this is a one year old Gateway that was just updated to a Core 2 Duo processor from a Pentium D.

Help....please.

Thank you.

I ran into the same problem, when I installed a new cpu.

I just want to thank "mlomenzo" for your posting.

I did things a little different than the original posting.

1. I went to the network settings and turned off "media sharing"

2. Then I went to the "Folder Options" in the "Control Panel" and selected the "Show Hidden Files" button and then Unchecked the box that says "Hide Protected Operating System Files".

3. Then I restarted the system in "Safe Mode" (hold down the F8 key, during the computer start up and select "safe mode").

4. Then I went to "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\DRM" and deleted all the files in that folder.

5. Then I restarted the computer (be sure to turn on Media Sharing and change your "Folder Options" to the original settings).

This was the only way I could get things to work on my version of Windows Vista
