So I was installing updates with Windows Update when all of a sudden my computer freezes, I had to force shutdown, restarted my computer. Then I noticed the computer froze whenever the update Windows PowerShell 2.0 and WinRm 2.0 for Windows Vista x64-based Systems was installing (KB968930).

So I tried installing it manually from here Download details: Windows PowerShell 2.0 and WinRM 2.0 for Windows Vista for x64-based Systems (KB968930)

Same thing! When the update was installing the progress bar stopped near the end and my computer completely froze!!!

What can I do?? I tried googling everywhere for this problem and I tried everything, it's driving me nuts!!

Thanks

Hello and welcome to the forum.

Fisrt and always I suggest that you do the following.

Run A full AV...
If you don't have download malwarbytes free version and do a full scan...
I would run a sfc to see if it fixes the problem.

Click the start...
All programs
Click accessories...
Right click the command prompt,,,,when the command box appears type the following. sfc /scannow notice there is a space between the sfc and the forward slash. Let it finsih and don't click any buttons untill it is finished, this will tell you a lot and fix's may problems. This report can tell us many things, you can upload it to us. If you find problems with the sfc then run the sfc 3 times .

Thanks for the reply americancritic.

I did a full virus scan with ESET: no viruses or threats found. Did the same thing with Malwarebytes and got the same result.

Ran an sfc: Windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations.

I still have the same problem though. The "Install updates and then shut down your computer" icon still appears and when I try to install update KB968930, I still get the same problem: progress bar stops near the end and my computer freezes completely.

HELP??!!!

Thanks in advance.

Try going to programs and features and click show updates.
try to remove it, then go to windows updates right click on the update and click hide.

So I hid the update in windows updates and tried installing the other updates. But then when it asked me to restart my computer to complete update installation, it restarted then when installing updates on before the log-in screen, my computer completely froze again. What the heck is this problem, I thought at first it was only with update KB968930 but it seems my computer has problems during every update installation???

HELP PLEASE
