But you say it wont work on any other, meaning any other such as an Vista Upgrade from Home to Premium ?

I am trying to grasp this better before I start.
The FRESH INSTALL really appeals to me. Redoing the New Graphic Card for my split screens problem is my only concern. Will the System Restore CAUSE PROBLEMS since I had to reset in the Bios when the Original Graphic Card was changed to the new Pny Geforce 210 ????

Important:
- Just checked the GeForce 210 Graphic card Box and "No Disk"... So where may I stand when I go back to original Vista restore or fresh install and Now have the 2 Graphic Cards Installed ?
- Also changed Ram to 4 gb months ago ?
- The Harder I try the more confused-ed I get

Q1. Yes you can just copy and paste your activation key I should have mentioned it also saves your security certificate,sometimes.
Q2. Yes that is what I mean with regards to "same version" it must be the same.No free upgrades here.
Q3. I think you will have to redo what you did with your graphics card and have the driver downloaded ready for it.
Also note this will be a fresh Vista install with all OEM software removed.
I think you understand now as your questions are very good.

Unfortunately, this will absolutely not work, no matter what anyone says. This disk does not contain any Operating System Files. Look at the size of it. It is tiny! It is illegal to put Microsoft Operating System Files online. That disk has cut out all of the system files to make it legal, and only has a few repair tools which cannot be used here. You cannot reinstall from this disk! There is no way around that! The files required simply do not exist on that disk!

Also, I feel a bit undercut here. Your first priority is Sea Tools. We need to know if that hard drive is dead. What with chkdsk finding faults, I think that it is. All evidence points to it being dead, but we need confirmation. We cannot just ignore this. If we do, you risk losing data such as family photographs or work material. Sea Tools is crucial!

Just getting overloaded here listening, deleting and saving files preparing for a good clean restore.

What can I expect to see and turn over to you in Final Seatool DskCheck for another review ?

I have deleted unwanted, unused and olde crap files. Have all Photos, Files, Misc Software etc ready to save to my 2tb drive for the eventual System Restore.

Thus I will also have all necessary saved file drive unplugged and saved off line not as part of the full restore when System Restore is complete.
But Im confused as to where do I get the Vista OS DVD Disk ?
Where am I also, if we find total corruption of the hard drive is Kaput ?

Just now also Downloaded the SeaTools SystemChk onto my desktop.
I'll run tomorrow, and will be able to see a report when completed ?

No funds for a new PC at this time.
Especially with both R260 Epson Printers also totally non productive.
Its now 1am Saturday ... time for me to head to bed !

Hello again!

Install SeaTools for Windows. Start it - note! it often takes 5-10 minutes to start, this is normal (and slightly annoying!) Run a SMART Check if you can. Run a Short Self Check. This will take about 10-15 minutes. Run a Long Self Check. This will take about 2 hours. Each one will have a green pass, or a red fail. Please tell me which one, and for which test.

Well done on backing up your files. It isn't easy, and is incredibly boring - we hate clean installs just as much as you do, but sometimes they are necessary.

The Vista disk is whatever you were supplied with. Did your computer come with any disks? It will be one of those. If it didn't come with any disks, then the disk is built into your computer itself. I shall explain more about that later.

If the hard disk is dead, it needs to be replaced. There is no way of fixing it You might be able to get it replaced under warranty - the annoying thing about warranty is if you buy a hard disk, you often get about 5 years. Mine came with a massive 15 years! But if you buy it off a system builder, you get only one year, and you are charged for that one year!

A new hard disk costs about $69, but don't hold me to that!

Hopefully you won't need a new hard disk, but don't keep your hopes up.

I am in for the long haul and fix it duration.
I will do the SeaTools chk today.
- If its a Hard Drive needed it would seem its a plug and play hopefully ?
- Can you address the PNY Geforce 210 Graphics Card Split Screen I now have, and what to expect when I do a system restore ? I remember doing a Bios change ? But need to refind that info and again install the change by looking on the PNY Support/Help.
But again ... might the system restore recognize its installed as I reboot from the restore ?
- Can you suggest Hard Drive to buy for a HP Pavilion a1747c-b.
- I've already replaced and upgraded the memory RAM to 4 gb.
- Found these Hard Drives at TigerDirect

A reinstall should not change your bios.
From what you have said about your hard drive making noise and file corruptions all through it and repair installs failing I would think you will need to replace the hard drive after you have finished testing it with the link I gave you at the beginning of the thread.

Ok So the current Bios setting for my Geforce Graphic Card that I installed about a month ago should boot up regardless of the System Restore ?

Now accepting Votes & or Suggestions as to what Hard Drive to purchase if and when needed to replace

I have suggested this method of testing because you reported that the "Windows" version failed to test.

So, yes, this should do the tests but in DOS mode. This will be from a bootable floppy or CD disk.

Please try it & report back. OK?

Not sure how you would be able to gather any information for Niemiro other than by YOU recording it!

When you follow the registration process you will end with a choice of "Floppy" or "CD ISO" image file to download. So follow the process! OK
