I'm running Vista Home Premium 32-bit and recently, whenever I send/receive emails from windows mail, I get an error message. Microsoft suggested I try Live Mail instead (naturally) and the same thing happens:
The connection to the server has failed.
Subject ''
Server: 'smtpout.secureserver.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10013
I tried enabling windows firewall and disabling Norton firewall/email scanning with no results. I have another computer with vista whose mail was working fine... until about a day or so later, then I started getting the same thing. This has happened before, but had resolved itself (how, I don't know).
Wassup?!?!?
UPDATE 11/6/09: I contacted my server provider and they suggested to change my outgoing smtp port (in my case from 25 to 80, but I think different services are, well... different). That's in Tools> Accounts> Properties> Advanced. This did the trick!
