When I had Windows Live Mail 14.0.0416, the quotation marks looked like this.....

" dash "

Now I have WLMail 2011, the quotation marks are like this ......

“ dash “

I am , and always been, using Arial, font size 14. Never changed.
It is minor. Just wonder if I have option to change. That's all.
By the way, the " navy blue " color option for my font is no longer available. At least not the same "navy blue " that I used before.

I researched this and received the following reply from IFireDog:

WLMail uses Windows fonts, so no change there. What has changed, though, is that WLMail 2011 got smart and now substitutes "curly" quotes for "straight" ones. The only way to alter this behaviour is a registry hack: at HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail\Compose\Preferences\PostEditor\Autoreplace change the ones to noughts for the substitutions you don't want.

I should note that I've also downloaded Essentials 2010 and went to this location and found only two entries: emoticons and hyphens; nothing concerning quotes (unless they are included in one of those two entries) so this may not resolve the issue unless it made more changes on your system than on mine.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!
