I have Vista Home Premum SP1. I cannot play some wmv files on windows media player 11. Same files are working with VLC. Does anybody have a solution

I have downloaded Vista Codec Package and also checked the privacy settings i still have the same problem. By the way, I forgot to mention that, when i try to play some avi files media player stops working.

Hey guys
I had the same problems and found an easy fix.
click Start and go to default programs and go to and click associate a file to a program. It will give 3 or 4 options. I selected Windows Media Player.
Works just fine.
