I saw the ad for this yesterday for the first time and I have to admit, I was very intrigued.

I used to have just about every Wolfenstein version out there...I loved the game...used to get nauseous swinging around all those corners tho...

I would really love to know what you think of it...

Hello mkensinger,
I just got it today, the eye candy is nice, I'm just not sure about the replay ability. It has a lot to live up to, the other Wolfenstein, Return to Castle Wolfenstein is a hard act to follow.
Not played the multiplayer yet, all the pings are a bit high, 100+. I will have to wait till some UK servers are up, maybe tomorrow.
I would say 10/10 for eye candy, replay 7/10, although it's early days.
Ran straight out the box, no issues of any sort.
Worth a look, IMO.

Is there a Demo out for it yet? I am kinda tired of playing games just for the eye candy and even though I played the Original Wolfenstein on floppy, I have a feeling that this is not going to be what I thought it was... perhaps I have been waiting and salivating for to long? :)

archie, just had a go on multiplayer, seems a bit slow after COD WaW, it's run and gun, spray and pray, that was on a Team DeathMatch server, it's got the engineers and medics, just like RTCW.

Asta, Dont think theres a Demo yet, it's not what i was expecting, the graphics are a bit like Bioshock, the story line is a bit thin, it's beefed up with side missions, the more i play it though, the more i like it.

On the other hand... I have been replaying my other games to death that I need a change of scenery! :(

It does grow on you :) And I agree about the quenstionable SP re-playability.

But I have to disagree about the eye candy - sure it looks good, but the lack of AA and low-res textures does detract a bit in the visual department. It's obvious it was made for a console market.

It does play very smoothly though :)

lack of AA?? why no AA?

return to castle wolfenstein is one of my all time fav games i loved it , i originally preordered this then cancelled it when i found out the multiplayer may be a bit "quake" like . I think the games running on the quake engine..

i have a no demo no buy policy normally (unless its cod modern warfare 2 i already preorderd it , just as well as the price shot up the day after) so ill probably give tis on a miss till i see it in game for 5 quid in 6 months :p

Michael,
My wife is happy when I'm in the corner with the headphones on, she can watch what she wants on the telly. lol.

smarteyeball
I never even noticed the AA in single player, it has it in multi-player, why not single player, odd.
Your right about it being made for consoles though, i suppose PC gamers will have to get used to that in the future. Theres some nice effects in the game, it has a different feel to it, i just cant put my finger on it, it's like a game i have played before but i cant remember which one. lol.

archie,
RTCW was the reason i got this. I pre-ordered it in January, then forgot about it, it was a nice surprise when it fell through the letterbox though.

Went to my friend's house, he already had it! (of course... the curse of having money I guess, he pre-orders everything! :( :)), I took a little browsing of the game... first Look:

1.- Not what I was hoping for... I am a bit disappointed... hoping I will change my opinion though as there is a tremendous lack of games right now.

2.- Weapon Ergonomics are a little Iffy, hard to explain but it just doesn't mesh well with the mouse/keyboard movements.

3.- Game is Rated "M", allegedly for Mature/Adults. Uhmmm, debatable to say the least since they will get you running around looking for Brownie Points to trade for weapon upgrades. to me that translates into ... Kiddie-Philosophy-Challenge-Type stuff that was poured into it to maintain them entertained so they don't go looking for the next flavor of the month and sell more content later. I may be wrong with this concept but I am old school and I rather find a scope laying around or already in my backpack than going around looking for something to trade or buy the thing... FC2 all over again!

stoney-nuts, I feel the same way, its DejaVu all over again with the feeling of having played the game before.

I only played to the first checkpoint and I am going to continue but I will probably wait until the game is in the bargain bin to purchase it.

I can already see that the adult mind or logic was not considered when they were programming this game and that this is the norm we are going to have to endure from now on...

Is it going to be enjoyable? Sure but, as far as replay-ability, as other have stated... the jury's still out!

Take this with a grain of salt though as 25 mins is not a good enough time to judge a game.

Well, one patch down, and another one anytime soon, i hope.
Played the single player game with no issues what so ever.
Multi-player, crashed twice, and does not save any info on exit, (so you have to reset "almost" everything when you log back on for another game).
Multi-player setup is too much like a console, but thats Games for Windows for you.
If your in to first person shooters, then i would have to say, this is worth a look, but as i said before, RTCW is a hard act to follow.

do they have differant gametypes or is it just a deathmatch type thing?

god i wish they would release a demo , mind you its probably cos they think its sh!t too ;)

The Multiplayer is like RTCW, the objective game play seems to be the best so far, team deathmatch is as you would expect, not so much nade and rocket spamming though, (no more 4 kills with 1 nade), the other one is called stopwatch, same as objective, but you swop defence and attack half way through.
After COD WaW, it just seems easy.
