Hello all you whiz-kids of the forum:
It's time to educate this lost soul again.
Yesterday when I attempted to print a file written in .wps, a save screen appeared requesting that I enter a file name and save the file in an .xps format. I traced the problem back to a recent (yesterday) installation of MSOffice and its one-note application. I then proceeded to uninstall Office and rebooted. Well...the problem is still there. Every time I try to print a file, I get the same message. I have tried the following:
1. I have provided a file name and saved the file in .xps. When I attempted to open the file to print it, I get recycled back to the save screen.
2. I have deleted the file and, in fact the entire documents folder, and reinstalled everything from disks. Same result, one-note seems to become embedded in the O/S.
3. I have uninstalled Adobe Acrobat to see if there was some conflict between Adobe and Office. Same result.
4. I have run two separate A/V programs to see if I had a virus. They both come up clean.
5. The MSOffice is a download so there is no disk available. There is no application do-not-install option on the download.
6. I have run boot-diagnostics and every other diagnostic tool I can think of but I come up with nothing. I get a never ending cycle of saving to .xps, not saving to .xps, back to the save screen.
If the best solution is to reinstall the O/S, it's not a problem. I just completed my semi-annual reinstallation about a month ago so all my data is still mainly up to date.
P.S. This problem with the print application applies to photos and every other printable file. Every other function works fine.
Any suggestions, except for taking a shotgun to the whole thing, would be greatly appreciated as always. C'mon you geniuses.
Regards
Powell Lucas
