A) Will i see any difference if i use 4GB 1066Mhz instead 4GB 800Mhz of ram?
B) Is it better to use 4x1GB or 2x2GB?

You need to post system specs in order to get an answer that question.

I believe the Q6600 uses 1066 RAM. You would see proper performance with 1066.

I believe the Q6600 uses 1066 RAM. You would see proper performance with 1066.

That would be dependent on the motherboard, and not necessarily the Processor.

Example, I have a Q6600 + PC8500 (1066) RAM, However, since my motherboard does not support 1066MHz RAM, the highest speed the RAM will run is 800MHz.

In this case I use the higher clocked RAM for overclocking my processor and maintaining a balance between between processor and memory in terms of bottlenecking.

If the CPU supports 1066 RAM and his board does not, upgrade the motherboard to take advantage of the better RAM.

Both these answers will depend on your motherboard, but it would be easier on the memory controller if you went with 2x2GB, as some (most) motherboards don't function to well with all their memory slots filled, especially at max frequency.

To summerize:

A - Does your motherboard support 1066MHz RAM?
B - It's better to run 2x2GHz

One possible issue with 1x4gb and 2x2gb is if in the future you would want to add more ram. 4gb is relatively future proof, especially for 32bit since it will only use 3 gigs of that, but if in the future you plan on adding more ram, you might want to go with 1x4gb and add another down the road so you can utilize your memory controller's dual channel ability

Ok seriously, if you guys googled his motherboard you would have found your answer.

The motherboard supports up to ddr2 1200 RAM sooooo Yes it can support 1066Mhz RAM.

You may see an increase in speed but I truly don't think the performance gain would justify the cost of decent 1066Mhz RAM. It is also better to run 2x2GB than 4x1GB

My Computer

but if in the future you plan on adding more ram, you might want to go with 1x4gb and add another down the road so you can utilize your memory controller's dual channel ability

Huh??? Maybe I'm missing something ...Please explain???

Dual channel doubles the bandwidth of memory, so 800MHz in single channel would be 64GB/s, and dual channel would effectively double this, which would be the same bandwidth as DDR3 memory in single channel, but most PC's, and anyone who knows what they're doing when building a computer uses dual channel anyway.

You can't really say either "the CPU uses 1066MHz RAM". The Q6600 just uses a 1066MHz FSB. If you put all the components in to the motherboard at stock speeds, the internal speeds won't match up. The RAM is at 533MHz and the FSB and CPU are at 266MHz, so for CPU:RAM performance, I think the difference between 800MHz and 1066MHz wouldn't be that noticable.

You may see a small increase but as I said, I'm not sure the small gain is worth the money for a good set of DDR2 1066Mhz RAM.

A small increase in FPS... and when I say small I mean maybe 1-2 more fps. Nothing that will be all that noticeable.

If you have 150 bucks just burning a hole in your pocket, go ahead and buy some 1066Mhz RAM. If you have better things to spend your money on, then don't but the 1066Mhz RAM.

My Computer

you wont see much difference if any from ...800mhz to 1066mhz ;)

example..... 1066mhz RAM @ 5-5-5-15 timings CANNOT compete with 800mhz @ 4-4-4-12, the 800s would run quicker....

intel DDR2 rigs don't benefit from a RAM frequency above the FSB, you may notice a slight performance boost once you hit 1200mhz but even then its tiny.

the i7 DDR3 rigs are where the frequency is far more important than timing as the extra bandwidth can be utilized more efficiently.

personally, i try & keep the frequency as low as possible (1-1) but tighten the timings right up, the performance boost is far more noticeable....(depending on my CPU OC of course..:p)

get some ''good'' pc6400s & they'll sit @ 1066mhz all day long....(if thats what your after)
