OK now for the problem. Try this it will speed up boot time

Type msconfig in search>click on boot tab>advanced options>number of processors 2>mamimum memory. Tell me what happens.

This should be done in addition to the advice Stoney gave you.

We can try other things, remove some start up programs, etc. I am confident that we can get this to work.

Set it back to one and uncheck the memory box, that is not the solution. Did you try everything in the post by Stoney?

Basically what the prior change did was to use additional memory to aid in the boot process, but since there was no difference, it is best to put it back the way it was.

I feel, now, that another program is causing the delay at boot and definately at shut down. A clean boot will answer that

OK the clean boot turns off many programs, the instructions tell you how to turn them back on to find out which one is causing the problem. Begin putting the programs back per the instructions. When we find the causet we can fix the problem. Your problem is not fixed, it is only hidden, now. Follow the instructions and begin to put the programs back that are not loaded due to clean boot.

i tried those steps , but it still took 2.00 minutes to load from turning pc on , ...

then i went back in and allowed all programs , i found the start up time was the same 2.00 minutes again ,

but then i noticed to get onto the net took apporx and extra 3.00 minutes ,

that must be all window programs loading ,, does that make sense ?

Hi Mandy,

I will spend as much time as we need. Maybe not all tonight, getting late here. But a little bit at a time we will get this done. I want to go slow so you understand. We will go back to square one. First. the problem may be malware, or virus. Make a complete scan with your anti virus.
Then download and scan with this.
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware: Malwarebytes

These two complete scans will take a while. So part 2 tomorrow. I will stay a while in case you have questions about this

By the way. Last night that was the nicest rep that I ever received, you seem like a nice person.

ok lucky for me i have spyware doctor full version that runs on my tab at bottom of screen , i ran that yesterday , took approx 4 hours ,

then i ran malware full version , nothing came up as virus , malware is on desktop but its not run on startup.

My Computer

OK Good, now turn off the antivirus and try to boot. Once you boot turn it back on so you are safe.

http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50618

If you run a complete anti virus scan and download and run malwarebytes, a full scan, and it is negative. Dont worry about a virus, that is not the problem.

Two minutes for the boot, is on the high side but not that bad. Three minutes to get on line is too long. That is probalbly your ISP connection.

Good Evening

When we left off last night it was my thought that your boot up time to the desktop 2 minutes was not that bad and does not really need much improvement. My time is about 90 seconds. If you remove some of those start up items that you show in your screen shot, you may imporve time a bit but not enought to warrant making the changes. I know I would not if it were my computer

You said that it takes about 3 minutes to go from desktop to internet.

Do you agree with my thoughts in the first paragraph and the facts in the second?

If you agree, follow the steps that I left with you last night regarding internet connection.

ok i was under the assupmtion that a pc like this should start in 90 seconds ,
yes it takes about 3 minutes to get on the net as i think its loading other programs , at same time as trying to get on the net , would this be microsoft programs ?? if this is the case well my pc is just what it is ..

Did you try to get online with antivirus turned off. That can slow you down big time?

ok i turned anti virus off completey disabled it , it still took 2minutes to get onto windows screen from start up ,
(which i think it may be normal for this pc)

it did get onto the net quicker tho with spyware doctor disabled , but id rather wait for it to load i think as i would have to re-nable it all the time..
