Had this system for 3 yrs. After 15 mo the ad min password went away. Geek squad wanted a ton of $ to repair. Did not repair. After 9 months no internet connection. Got a new sata hard drive - uploaded vista and all was well for 2 weeks. Then the blue screen. I have trend antivirus software. Could not reinstall vista on the new hard drive. Replaced the hard drive again on 8/2/10. All was well for another 2 weeks. Down again. I am at work so I can't post all the specifics. Can't reintsall vista on this hard drive either. Any ideas? Is it me or bad hard drives?

Yes - I have the installation disc. Emachine disc that came with the system. Uploads the Vista Premium on the system. I retried to upload this on the hard drive after the blue screen. It failed. Crash dump. I really don't have anything worth saving and want to start new if need be so this is not the issue. I appreciate your help. I have to go to a meeting for a while so my reply may be a while. Thanks.

Even if I do get to the computer I can't get internet connection to copy and paste technical information. What can I do to at least get back up to that? I am really dead in the water. Should I just swap this HDD for a replacement and start over or is their a wipe clean disc I can use and reinstall vista?

I brought in the old HDD to best buy and they told me what to replace it with. All I uploaded was the emachine disc. There is another disc with drivers that was given to me but I didn't use it. The other disc worked OK (for a while)

All I have is the original disc that came with the computer. It appears it can't be reinstalled according to the information I see. It would need to be a upgrade version correct?

My Computer

All I have is the original disc that came with my emachine. From what I see with the info you provided I would need a different version to reinstall Vista on this hard drive correct?

My Computer

So vista was already Installed on your Computer when you brought the Computer?

Yes - Vista was alresy installed on the system when we originally purchesed the system. This is the 3rd hard drive I have had for this system. This latest version HDD was installed on 8/2/10 and has Vista already on it. I attempted to reinstall it but when it attempted to auto restart after the reinstall it goes to crash dump.

My Computer

Sorry But I mean when you brought the Computer was Windows Vista installed on it or not?

If so you have an OEM Computer which come with a recovery Partition but since you have changed the HDD there may not be a recovery Partition,

If not you need to Find your Installation Disk that you brought to put on the Computer

Also What disk are you using to try and Install Vista? Is it a Microsoft Disk?

Many Thanks,
Josh
