Heya,

I followed your advice and ran a full scan with Avast Free Antivirus and no infected files were found.

I then followed the steps in the link you sent me! I disabled the services and everything looked promising... It loaded much faster and for a much longer period it seemed fine. But then I tried to connect to the internet and everything went wrong... I managed to get the window open with wireless options alright, but when I tried to click on my Internet connection and put in the passkey the entire window froze and become 'Not responding'. Then I couldn't click anything on the screen!

If it helps, this is kind of what I think was the initial problem. I was working on my computer when I noticed my wifi Internet had disconnected, so I tried to reconnect and the window with the wifi networks crashed. So I went to task manager and ended the process (I think) and then tried again and everything froze... So I force restarted and ever since then this freezing at startup happens!

The 'Connect to:' option also doesnt seem to work in Safe Mode (Well it didnt the one time I tried it)....

So frustrating :( !!!!

This is just the thing that system restore can fix, try that again. Try in safe mode if needed.

Ok, I'll try again!

Do you think maybe I should go back further than the day it crashed? I have system restore points up until a week ago?

My Computer

Go back 2 days before the problem

Heya
Sorry went on holiday and just came back yesterday... I made a backup of my files and restored to factory settings in the end.
However, it still doesnt work? It cannot connect to the internet and eventually freezes after 30-1hr.
Earlier on I saw a BSOD saying Driver Power State Failure...
Any advice? Really concerned as thought a factory reset would fix it!
xx

There is a good probability that the cause is you NIC driver (internet). This is further confirmed by the information in your initial post.
Go to the website and update the driver
If it does not work, dont be discouraged, many times it takes several BSODs to get the corrrect handle on the problem

I think I've managed to dowload the file but when I try and install it keeps saying that it wont pdate as the current version is fine (I'm paraphrasing)
So confused!

My Computer

Download to your desktop or documents. Uninstall the old one, then try again.
Make a system restore point, first, in the event of problems.

I should be looking in Device Manager right? Cause I can't seem to find it... the closest driver to that name are called NDIS System Driver
and NDIS System I/O Protocol
both under 'Non Plug and Play Drivers'

My Computer

Looks like its wireless driver
In any event, all the drivers that you feel could be the one, try to update from the device manager.

Have you done any windows installations/upgrades recently?

It seems like some of your drivers have been uninstalled, try searching your computer make and model and pull up the drivers. the initial problem kind of looked like that your BIOS driver is also outdated or damaged, not 100% sure, but it doesn't hurt to update that as well.
