Black screen when starting my laptop

Firstly, I wanted to copy the files deleted ( see the folowing link http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-deb...en-when-starting-my-laptop-4.html#post1396024)

How to do it ? Where to download such files ?

Also to tell you that I don't feel at ease with a fresh installation. Moreover, I hear also about people with same troubles that installation or even format, did'n't solve this problem.

Here you are the requested file, CBS log : http://2anyqsbbli.1fichier.com/

PS: I couldn't upload this file on this forum

There are no SFC errors showing in this log.
There are no other errors in the CBS log either (which goes back as far as 2nd March).

You say that when you ran SFC it said that there were errors it could not fix?
This may imply registry errors....
Please downloadand save the CheckSUR tool from Fix Windows Update corruption errors such as 0x80070002 and 0x80070057
(you'll need tolook in the details for Vista, downloading from the Microsoft DownloadCenter)

Run it - The toolcan take anywhere from 5 mins to a couple of hours to run (or 'Install')depending on how much it has to do, and may exit silently - it may appear tofreeze for most of that time, but be patient.
The result islogged in the C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log file - and an archive …\checksur.persist.log file

Then zip theCheckSUR.log and upload it to your reply.

Hi NoelDP,

Yes, SFC could not fix the errors on yesterday scan. For more details, please read this : http://www.vistax64.com/crashes-deb...en-when-starting-my-laptop-4.html#post1396035
I can suppose that this is because I removed 2 important files as pcmcia.sys and crcdisk.sys, and others minors files as I already posted before.

Before yesterday, I didn't have any error generated by SFC.

I don't understand why you told me that I need to download CheckSur as I don't have any troubles with Windows Update and this one, is working well. It's loading every time I start Vista.

I can mount an image and extract the files if they are on a Vista install disc but that may not fix your problems.
Please give me a list of files needed .inf files are your settings files and they wouldn't be on any install disc though.
I would also set a restore point and run the tool NoelDP points to as well as you have nothing to lose by doing it.

I need the following files for Vista Service Pack 2 :

\windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys
\windows\system32\drivers\pcmcia.sys
\windows\system32\drivers\1394bus.sys
\windows\system32\drivers\ohci1394.sys

\windows\system32\driverstore\filerepository\sdbus.infblablabla
\windows\inf\sdbus.inf
\windows\inf\sdbus.PNF

+

I've just ran 'Autoruns' program from Sysinternals and the following are also missing on my laptop :

IpInIp IP in IP Tunnel Driver File not found: system32\DRIVERS\ipinip.sys
NwlnkFlt IPX Traffic Filter Driver File not found: system32\DRIVERS\nwlnkflt.sys
NwlnkFwd IPX Traffic Forwarder Driver File not found: system32\DRIVERS\nwlnkfwd.sys

I disabled on the Bios settings the USB and wifi devices and I also changed the HDD from AHCI to Sata and I could start without any troubles. No hangs up like before. But of course, I need to get all the files above from now, thanks.

Have you looked in the winsxs folder as files there should never be deleted as that is where the system file checker gets the replacement files from when your files get damaged.
Sounds like you have deleted some of these files and that could cause major problems.
Some of the files you need are in the Windows/System32/Drivers some in the Windows/System32/DriversStore and more from the winsxs.
If you don't want to do a fresh install I won't be able to be much more help than giving you the files and let you try replacing them with no guarantee just replacing them will work. Drivers have to be installed. I put this message on the forum to warn others not to delete these files.

1.I've just checked winsxs folder and I found all files except the following ones :
ipinip.sys
nwlnkflt.sys
nwlnkfwd.sys
sdbus.PNF
Do I really need them (missing files) ?

2.For the others files, I found on winsxs folder.
How is the best way to copy on the system32 folder ? With a Live Cds ?

3.Another question come to my mind, why SFC didn't replace the files I removed as those are in the winsxs folder ?

Many files in the Winsxs folder exist in a number of versions - some as many as 20 times.
Generally, if SFC doesn't flag them then they are present and correct.

I'll have to review the thread and see what I can find - but it's bedtime here.
Back soon:)

I've uploaded a file with all the files contained. It's on my OneDrive at Noel's OneDrive - filename ashaa.zip
Note that the blablabla inf files you reference are actually folders, rather than files!

Thanks for the files Ilikefree and NoelDP.

New issue that I recently noticed and still alive :
I started again my laptop and again, I got the freeze black screen and it couldn't go further as others days. I turned off my laptop and started again and I clicked on F2 to enter into my Bios and I noticed that the changes I made on yesterday (disable USB, wifi and Sata HDD settings) weren't remained. I don't know for which reason the Bios didn't save my settings. These new settings are saved for a few minutes but after hours, new settings are disabled on the BIOS. I don't know how to fix them. Of course, I saved with F10 when exit and I clicked on yes.

Ilikefree,

No troubles if I installed nwlnkflt.sys from 2004 year ?
No chances to get ipinip.sys and nwlnkfwd.sys ? Are those files coming with Vista and does it belong to a few softwares ?

NoelDP,

On my winsxs folder, I got all the files you zipped but most of all files located on winsxs folder are newest if I checked the date. Do I need to install it yours (which are older) ?

For example, I got 2 pcmcia.sys files on Winsxs folder, from 2008 and from 2009. Your file is from 2006. Wich file do I need to keep ?

Thanks in advance.

The files I uploaded were from the locations you specified, on a clean and (mostly - to December, anyhow) updated install of Vista SP2.

I also have the later-dated versions of pcmcia.sys in the winsxs folder.
You need to keep ALL versions - Windows will sort out which one it actually uses.

If I understand for example, with different versions of the same file, I only need one file version on the Drivers folder and the others versions, will be located on the Winsxs folder, is that correct ?

Yep - in fact, two of the files may not really exist at all (in some cases, at least) as they may just be hardlinks to the original file.

So, the best will keep the latest version oh the drivers folder and older versions with the latest one on the winsxs folder.
