So we live in rural South Carolina where the high-speed Internet doesn't quite reach, so we're still on dial-up with AOL on the desktop PC at home. I don't tend to get on that computer much anymore because of the headache, but my mom has been online daily up until this week.
On Monday night, I used it for the first time in months to try to search for a particular email because it was easier than digging through my phone. In the short time that I was on, AOL froze twice and had to restart and reconnect. I assumed this was because the connection is terrible. My mom had no problems with it on Tuesday, but on Wednesday morning, AOL would freeze before the program would open and cause the whole desktop to freeze and have to be restarted.
In the past, we have had issues with upgrading AOL...some of the features it installs, like the dialer, are flagged as viruses by Windows and cause it to malfunction and keep us from getting online. In those cases, we've had to uninstall AOL and reinstall 9.0 from a disk, as this is the last version that worked well with Vista. So after my mom restarted twice, she assumed that was the problem and tried to reinstall.
Now what we're seeing is that AOL reinstalls fine, but when it gets to the point where it actually tries to bring us online to sign in, it crashes and gives us a BSOD error. When it restarts, the error is showing as 000007e, I think (I'm on a work PC and I left the info written down at home). We're encountering the same problem on her account and on the administrator account. No other programs seem to be related.
I've uploaded the zip file for you guys to take a look. Any help you could give would be much appreciated. My mom is going crazy without being able to get online, even if it is just dial-up. ^^;
