Bsod while playing GTA 4,help please!

Edit:perhaps it is because my computer are cantonese(chinese) so its corrupted for you??not sure lol.

No, minidumps are just memory. They're not "localised" (they don't come in different languages).

As a suggestion, try uploading more of them. It's possible that subsequent minidumps will be intact.
Ok,i have another quest,if i get like 100 bluescreen will my computer be more slow or will it get damaged or something?thanks.and ill do that when i get back home...

Its your case. If you want to play games you need air. Removing the side panel will make it worse. Ideally, you'd want one exhaust at the top, one at the back, 2 intake at the front and one on the side.
I dont really understand why will it make it worse lol,can you explain some more :P??
my side panel at the right has no holes so i thought removing it will be better, correct me if im wrong..

Ideally, you'd want one exhaust at the top, one at the back, 2 intake at the front and one on the side
Oh,so all the side on my computer should have those small holes/fans?Thanks for the suggest!
but can you tell me the normal Temp while playing games/on windows and what is the temperature for overheat?thanks.

No side panel means the air can escape not rebound into the case. Ideally, your cpu should be under 60 degrees celsius and a gpu can get up to 100 C, so you want lots of cooling. Lots.

Yeah, but thing is the right panel does not have any hole, thats the reason why i removed it,should i put it back?
Also i tried to check my temp, without playing gta 4
It is 45~55
While playing its 50~59,sometimes it can go to 61 but hardly...
And GPU stays 40 to 41 all the time...
I cant believe my computer is 50degree and i dont feel hot lol..is that my system monitor's problem?

That's fine, put the panel back. If you can't install any extra fans, I'd wait until you can build a new PC.

OK something i wanna say also
Bluescreen only happens while playing GTA 4(happened once while im not but only once..)
Also i found a *.dmp file on C:\Windows but its 205MB
and its called memory.DMP is it the one?

the dump file is that large because it is set to entire memory in system control panel. you should go into the system control panel>advanced settings>start up and recovery>change to kernal dump

ken
i've just got another bluescreen while surfing the net, here is some detail.

Im no expert on BSOD but i very much doubt its the case... your temps are ok.

if your running a quad core u dont want GTA4 split over the 4 cores... turn 2 off, and your memory is sufficiant enough to run GTA4 too. failing this, id suggest checking the HDD for errors on the disk.

your GPU is ok too.

lmao no yoo don't want too split it onto all 4 cores at all it will run dog slow worse than it is at the moment due to multi core not been fully supported by a fair amount of games.

Please explain

If the game doesnt support muticore proccessing then its going to run badly if atal, i have games that dont support Dual core so i have to turn core 2 off to run it on 1.

When i had my quad core extreame that was the same problem worst of all it caused me to bin the damn thing as i was just constantly having to turn cores 3+4 on and off :sarc:.

i really dont think ive missguided atall

Anyway how do i turn my cpu off?
And btw i got bluescreen last night while playing gta 4,
i tried to wait but after 15 mins i had to sleep and it remains at phys dump:50 and it wont move...lets see if it is corrupted this time..
oh wait..there is no *.dmp file at minidump this time..
perhaps its because i turned it off but not restart..
and something strange is that..there was no reason while i had the bluescreen, normally it says something like memory card has an unexpected faulty or something but this time there is none...

That will achieve nothing except to hobble his machine without any particular reason. It affects all processes - including the OS.

Processes which do not spin off sufficient threads to "use" all cores just use as many cores as they can. The unit of scheduling is the thread, not the process, meaning that it's quite possible and even common to have a thread from App1 on procX while a different thread from Game2 is on procY - except that will never happen if you get him to artificially limit the number of processors.

No, you shouldn't. It is vanishingly unlikely to have any positive effect on the situation, and if it did it would simply prove that the hardware (processor or motherboard) is broken. Otherwise, the only effect would be to turn your quad-core into a less-than-quad, thereby slowing everything down for no good reason.

The advice was well-meaning of course, but misguided.

Since the dumps generated by your machine are corrupted, it is not possible to troubleshoot directly. Once you're confident that nothing is over-clocked or under-cooled, the BIOS and drivers are up-to-date, in particular the video, it may be time to consider a clean build with absolutely nothing else except base OS componentry - stuff that came on the Windows disc.

After that, if your game still causes BSODs on a completely fresh Windows installation, you can be very confident of underlying hardware abnormalities.

As for whether Win7 "fixed this problem", there's absolutely no reason at all right now to suspect a bug in Vista. The vast majority of Vista users do not experience your symptom. Therefore, the cause is clearly environmental - something that's different about your software and/or hardware environments.
