Solved Computer can't tell time anymore

I would take it into a shop and have them look at it. something is wrong that we don't know about.

I wonder if this is some kind of scheduled task that is causing the grief. Try this:

Open a Elevated Command Prompt.

Click on the Start button and type cmd.
DO NOT press Enter or click Go.
Look at the upper part of the window and you will see cmd.exe.

Right click on it and select Run as Administrator.
​

Type schtasks /query > SchTasksList.txt & notepad SchTasksList.txt and press Enter.

A notepad window will open with all scheduled tasks listed.
Look through it and see if anything obvious jumps out.
Please attach SchTasksList.txt to your next post so we can look at it.

At the risk of tempting fate, I will report that my computer appears to have recovered the ability to tell time. the last time I updated to internet time seems to have done the trick. I'll see if it continues, hopefully will be able to close thread soon!

Let's see what starts when you boot your computer.

Download and run Startup List (does not need to be installed, just run it).
When done, click File then Save as and save Startuplist.txt to your Desktop or somewhere you can find it.
Start a reply here and paste the contents of Startuplist.txt into it.

I tried to attatch the file you asked for, Ztruker. hopefully it worked.

The file is not attached.

Click on Go Advanced then Manage Attachments.
In the File Upload Manager window, click on Add Files.
Click Browse then navigate to StartupList.txt and double click on it.
Click Upload.
Check the box at the lower right of the uploaded StartupList.txt then click Insert Inline.
You should see

[ATTACH]nnnnn[/ATTACH]

placed where the cursor is.

Well, that didn't help. I don't see anything in there unusual or that looks like it may have something to with date/time or time zones, rats!
See if anything time related has been recorded in Event Viewer? Some info here that may or may not apply since it was written for XP.

Time Change Capture in Event Log - Event 577 and 520

Edit: Also, run sfc /scannow from a Elevated Command Prompt, see what it finds and fixes, if anything.

One other thing. Please collect the list of scheduled tasks as I described here and post the resulting .txt file.

Yes, I have a dual boot setup, with Vista and Linux. I'm using the Vista drive mostly, as I can't get my email to work on Linux. I may just install Vista and then W-7 on that drive (I have a W-7 upgrade disc, but I like vista so I didn't install it on this drive). It appears logical to assume that dual-booting is the problem here, so getting rid of Linux would probably solve it. Linux is kind of fun, though, they have so much interesting free software.

I like to play with Linux too but I run it as a virtual client under Oracle Virtual Box. I have Linux Mint Cinnamon, Ubuntu and Zorrin at the moment.

I gave up on Dual boot 4 or 5 years ago as it caused me too many problems.
