Computer Randomly Restarts Only When Playing Certain Games

The next time that you have the problem, note the exact time. Look for that time in the event viewer. It may give us a lead as to the cause. Until that happens, give me the information that I requested.

Took the Intel Burn Test, and even at maximum stress level the test said the CPU was stable.

Core Temps Reached @ Maximum Stress Level :

Core #0-76°C
Core #1-71°C
Core #2-75°C
Core #3-72°C

Unless these temps are higher than normal, then it looks like the CPU isn't the problem either. I'm going start up my game with Core Temp on, and see if they reach the same temperatures that they did in the Intel Burn Test. If they do, then it looks like the CPU might be overheating. I really only use my computer for gaming, and if the CPU is constantly at the temperatures, then I might need better cooling system.

Thanks again for all of your replies, it feels good knowing that others are trying to help me out.
:D:D:D

Last I knew, yha they're too high for me... But I think your q8200 can handle 100C tecnically.

I agree; that's way too hot. In comparison my old desktop shut down when the CPU hit 75C. Somewhere between 45-50 would be good. I suggest that you get a can of compressed air and clean out the fan on the heatsink. You could even remove the fan on the heatsink however if you do so make sure that you put it back on the same direction that you took it off.

If you are using cpu-z you can have it record the temperatures. My guess is that it shuts off at 80C.

No the 45nm Cpus are suppose to be good till 100C according to Intel.

Hmm what psu do you have?

Just for ****s n giggles run both ibt and furmark together. This will max draw your power supply and see if it's able to handle the load.

I have cleaned out the computer with duster multiple times. BTW computer has restarted twice in the past 2 hours. 3 times last night, and once friday.

Does it blue screen, freeze, or turn off? What exactly is it doing?

I'll be playing my game for a while, and then suddenly the screen turns black, and then the computer restarts itself. The sound will keep playing for a while after the screen goes black. It's as if someone walks up to my computer, and pushes the power button to turn it off, and then once its off, turn it back on again. Once the screen goes black, I don't have to do anything, it just restarts. I do have the "Automatic restart" box ticked for when the system fails, but i'm afraid that if I turn off "Automatic restart", that my computer might be damaged in a way. What do you guys think? Should I turn of the "automatic restart" and see if that fixes the problem? I just don't want the computer to be damaged.

This isn't a software thing i'm nearly certain. Have you tried stressing your cpu and gpu at the same time?

I'm nearly certain it is not heat either, heat doesn't reboot after the shutdown, which makes me think it is a lack of power in high demand processes.

The problem seems to be the AMD driver or the actual Graphics card. Go to the web site and update driver, to start
