I dont know if I have the CD. My dad might have it over at his house, but I would have to call him. I also noticed oh complicated it looks lol.
Umm, question. Will this remove all my files and stuff? lol

If you don't have a disc, then we can download one :) It's easier if you have an actual disc, but it's not the end of the world if you don't.

It's really not as bad as it looks, it's just a very detailed tutorial to ensure you get it right.

No, it shouldn't remove your files if you follow all of the steps. But it's always good to have a backup just in case things don't go as planned.

No worries :) It's a bit of a pain for Vista because MS doesn't distribute the ISO files - you have to build these yourself.

I had to write up instructions for another user, so I'll save myself of doing it again and just link you to that: http://www.vistax64.com/windows-updates/296505-windows-update-fails-error-80070490-a-5.html

Note: Those instructions are for x86 computers, you need to download these files instead:

Ok, will do. Due to some family issues, I may not respond for a while. But I promise as soon as I can, we can continue to fix this issue. Thanks.

P.S

My Dad actually had reinstall his OS yesterday lol. And now this whole process doesnt look that complicated. And another thing, would a "DVD-R" cd work for the ISO? I ask this because I have a couple laying around from when I used to burn my own Wii games, Haha.

Thanks

There's no rush :) I understand people have lives outside of this forum. Just post whenever is convenient for you.

It's not that bad, if you get stuck then just give me a shout. A DVD-R would work perfectly :)

I'm going to just hope that these were homebrew games and that you weren't doing anything illegal as that would violate the forum rules and land you with a ban :)

Fair enough, as far as I know that's legal, and within the forum rules, so let's leave it at that :)

Okay, good luck!

Ok, so when I went to download the files into C://, it said I didnt permission and it suggested that I download the files into my "Isaiah T. Feldt" folder. Should I just install the files there, and just copy and cut them in C://?

Thanks

So I moved the three files (Boot, Install, and the X14) to C:/, and it gave me this error.
Capture.JPG

I tried putting them into a folder on my desktop, but I keep getting this error. I even "TookOwnership" of the folder.

Wait, let's go back a few steps.

Is the computer that you are trying to fix x64 or x86 (32 bit)?

My laptop (the computer with the problem) is x86 (x32). Now that I think of it, I might of installed one of the files from the page with the instructions you did for that other guy. Im gonna delete them, and reinstall them to make sure that isnt the problem.

Well, I tried again, and the problem still persists. I have no clue why it wont work. I googled the problem and it seems other people have been getting the same error.
