Edit:

Why do I even need to put it on a disk? It opened up a window like it would with the cd.

Above is a picture of what I get when i launch the setup.exe on my flash drive. Its weird because before I made it into a iso, the correct window would come up like in the tutorial you linked to me.

So lets recap:

--I downloaded the three x86 files (install, boot, and X-14) and tried to run X-14 to find out that it wouldnt let me for some reason.

--I downloaded the three x64 files (install, boot, and X-14) and it successfully made a iso. I downloaded that one program that is supposed to remove a certain file from the ISO, but you said it wasnt needed for Vista ISO's. So then I installed UltraISO program thing. I formatted my flash drive then I wrote it to the flash drive. I go to run the setup.exe and I get this error.

Any suggestions?

Ok, I deleted the ISO and the Vista folder. I made a new Vista folder with the X-14.exe. I opened up the new Vista folder and ran the setup.exe. It opened up the Install Windows window.

Im not understanding why its letting me run this setup.exe, but I cant run it after its been written from a ISO to my flash drive.

Ok, when im go to install Vista, it says the Upgrade option is disabled because their isn't enough space on the partition. It says that 11616 MB's needs to be available on the partition (C:/). Now, I looked it up, and and 11616 MBs converts to about only one GB. I have more than that on my laptop (C:/) lol.

P.S I just ran the setup.exe while I was logged in, as said in the Vista Installation Tutorial.

No worries for all of the posts :) They all contained useful information, so it isn't a problem.

11616MB is roughly 11GB, not 1GB. Do you have this much space free on your laptop?

11GB? lol silly me.

Okay, dont laugh, but at the moment I only have 9GBs left on C:/ :o . I know, thats terrible. But I have lots of programs like Photoshop and After Effects that I use alot. Im going to go back through and delete any old videos or pictures. See ya in a bit.

Yep, 11.3438GB to be precise.

lol, I wouldn't exactly call that something to laugh at! Try running CCleaner to clear out the crap from your computer, that should do some of the work. Then transfer files to another computer or hard disk whilst we repair Windows? You can move them back afterwards :)

I want to do a clean install, but I just dont want to loose all my programs. Im not really worried about my music or pictures, because I have a external hard drive I can always pop in and move them over to.

Im might just wait to do a clean install, I just dont think my laptop is worth it (Its about 7 years old lol). Im saving up for a new dell.

My dad knows this guy that can do all the "moving of the files" for me. And he installs window 7 for a cheap price. So its a win-win.

Thanks for the help! If I ever decide to do a clean install, ill just send you a private messsage.

There's one more thing you can do for me; is their a program where I can select folders and back them up onto another drive? Copy and paste is too slow and I think theirs a program like that in the control panel.

Thanks!
-Isaiah

P.S
Besides, with my luck, I will probally mess up somewhere when im doing the fresh install lol.

So I thought I'd just let ya know that in a couple weeks this guy my dad knows is gonna fix my laptop by, hopefully, just installing W7. Which is gonna be awesome because I'v never used it (other than on a friends computer). On top of that, Im gonna see if he can get my battery replaced. The thing only lasts 30 minutes on a "Full charge". lol

Know any good and fast way of transferring files from my C drive to my external? Copy and paste isnt a option, my windows explorer cant last 10 seconds or 2 clicks of my mouse without freezing up or crashing explorer.exe.

Thanks!
-Isaiah
