Hi. I have Vista Home Premium (64 bit) on a Dell computer and this did not work. When I did this, I was upgraded to Flash 10. However, the Adobe messages state that their won't be a fix until sometime after Flash 10. What do I do in the meantime?

1. Open Computer.
2. Navigate to C:\Windows\SysWOW64\.
3. Scroll down and open the Macromed directory.
4. Open the Flash directory.
5. Right-click FlashUtil9b.
6. Select Run as Administrator.
7. When the UAC prompt appears, select Continue.
8. Follow the Flash Player installation wizard.
Once the wizard completes, Flash Player has been properly installed and will now function properly.
I have tried this on a Dell Vista system and it worked like a charm.
Please try it onto your machines and please let me know if it works.

My Computer

use the regular IE (x86)

if you want to get flash content.....

x64 beta (or alpha by any account) is not available and when it is it will be headlines everywhere (including here...lol)

My Computer

Hi,

The default internet explorer on x64 and FF3 are 32 bit apps. - flash works fine.

Only if you choose to use the additional internet explorer , will it be a 64 bit app.

Hope it helps

Concerning IE 64 bit and Flash player. There is no 64 bit version of flash player available. Vista defaults to the 32 bit version of IE as the default browser when it's installed. Make sure you are truely using the 64 bit version of IE on any fix supplied here. Please don't take this the wrong way, but it doesn't work for me. I run IE in 32bit mode due to the lack of 64 bit flash player.
I have an HP preinstall Vista Ultimate x64 and I upgraded to SP1. In any case, the 64 bit version of IE is marked as such so if you had it in you quick links for example it would say Internet Explorer (64 bit).
I guess what I'm saying don't assume your browser is running in 64 bit mode just because you have a 64 bit version of Vista.
I know that is painfully obvious to most anyone that uses this site and I apologize if this seems any bit condescending, it is definately not intended that way at all.
It's a "just in case" a user on here didn't understand there are 2 versions of IE on vista x64 and how to see the difference.

Hi pooch
you are absolutely correct.
I was hasty in writing my earlier comment. I do not need the techniquedescribed by dinesh because my installation through the Adobe flash download went perfect a very long time ago. One can just download the flash from the Adobe site-no problem encountered. This is my humble experience
I just tried to see what dinesh had mentioned in his post. Just being inquisitive. If I 'd read the whole thread I would not have needed an answer.

For such a major software company like Adobe it surprises me that they haven't made a flash player that works in 64 bit browsers. They have 64 bit versions of many of their other programs I wonder why its taking so long for them to have a 64 bit flash player of all things.

Well guys, the moral of the story remains the same. We need flash player to play youtube videos or to open some webpages without the RED X instead of moving images and to play online flash games.
I dont understand why people want to use only a so called 64 bit IE browser when there are alternatives like FF3, Chrome, Safari, Netscape, etc. available.

Don't forget that there is also a 64 bit version of Firefox in the works,

http://wiki.mozilla-x86-64.com/Firefox:Download

Adobe will get it there for Windows based systems one of these years. Also they did release an alpha version for 64 bit Linux (which works quite well from what I last saw) as some of the 64 bit distro's don't have a 32 bit emulation layer like Windows x64 versions do.
