Intel E8400 Temp problem

i cleaned my pc througly. See now. Improved right

That is an improvement It seems to have fixed your sensors too as it no longer displays the temps as a minus.

Is your room generally warm as well? As ambient room temperature will always affect a PC's temp.

Yes bro my room is warm. If I turn on Air condition, i feel very cold. So i keep it off. I'll add more fans and better cpu cooling

My objective to to decrease temp to 45~50c.

Did you double check the cooler is attached properly?

Did you use thermal paste?

Yes I removed the cooler and then reinstalled. There was some thermal paste on the sink and also on the processor. I used brush to clean the dust as it was covering the whole processor (except its center).

Wait... you removed the cooler, brushed it and then put the cooler back without adding new paste? If so, there's your answer

Each time you remove the cooler you really should clean the existing paste off and then re-apply a fresh lot. Especially if there is a chance that there is now dust in the paste.

Hi,

I noticed that your clock speed is just 1.99Ghz and the multiplier is 6. In the case of E8400 your cpu is underrated. out of the box the E8400 should be rated at around 2.4-2.8Ghz and with a multiplier 9. the temp problem of your E8400 is not caused by poor cooling system and even if you dont add any additonal fan the temp shouldnt be as high as it indicates but you need to take a look on the correct BIOS settings and check if you have the latest drivers. now, if you have all these correct settings and drivers the problem is with your E8400. your cpu is not located in the mohabi desert to have this kind of temperature you're "deep frying" your cpu actually. check if it is still under warranty.

and since it still under warranty you need to return your cpu (E8400) to the computer retailer for them to thoroughly check the cpu. because as for the present behavior of your cpu i can say it is "abnormal". in a room temp the E8400 would have a temp of 33-40C (with 6-8 hours of continous usage) and if you're using your airconditioning system the temp would normally play between 32-34C (6-8 hours of continous usage). here's another thing even if you overclock your cpu you wont get that kind of temp no matter how clean your pc is. in an overclock mode (without good cooling fan) the E8400 would normally play between 36-40C (6-8 hours of continous usage)
so better return your cpu to the computer retailer while it's under warranty.

If it's multi x9 and 2.9 under load then it's not a BIOS setting as it's clocking normally. When games lag, do you actually know what the clock is running at?

Although as powevan8 mentioned, those temps are abnormal and if it's under warranty you should consider a replacement.

No i adjust the cooler yestaday when my friends told me to recheck the cooler. After that games are not laging. Beforce when games where laging, the temp is high as 90-98c. Now its 75c. What you guys say about bios update? Any chance of improvement?

It really depends on what the actual cause is whether a BIOS update will help. Have you been adjusting anything in the BIOS?

No nothing i think but i'll make sure by checking bios settings again. No, when i bought it, it was not lagging at all. Since last 3 weeks, my brother start playing GTA4 (as i've exams i left), later he told me game is laging. First I ignored but later i went deep into this issue and posted a thread here.

Silly question, but has your brother been fiddling with things he shouldn't have?

Has he been adjusting things in the BIOS? ie Trying to overclock? (not that he would admit it anyway )

I'd double check your voltages are still where they should be.

Another silly question, is the CPU fan still working?

Can you remember what temps you had before it started to cook?

Assuming nothing has been touched and the CPU has for no apparent reason suddenly started to cook, I'd look at replacing it under warranty sooner rather than later.

I'd still re-apply the thermal past too if you haven't already done so and triple check the Heatsink is properly seated. It does sound like one of the pins is not pushed down properly and it's not fully making contact with the CPU.

Not at all, my brother is not going deep in these things. K first i'll apply the thermal paste again and recheck the fan connectors. If still it hot like this, then i'll try to replace the processor.
