Solved Malwarebytes problems....

What version have you got installed? It should be 1.51.1.1800. Mouse over the system tray icon and report back what you see.

And what database version is it reporting? The current is 7568 (25/08/2011). I'm guessing that it's your database that is out of date. Try right-clicking the icon and selecting Check for Updates. Follow subsequent on-screen directions.

I already did that as stated in the thread above..after I re-booted and it said my version exlpired...I checked for updates and it did it...I have version 7568

You are aware that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is currently shipping with a 14 day free trial of Malwarebytes Pro, and after these 14 days will give you lots of annoying "Expired" notices, however, removal of infections will always be free, and will never expire, and these notices should be bypassable, and within a few days disappear.

Thanks, I wasn't aware of that. It does sound like this is the cause of the problem. Try the following:

Download and run the http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-clean.exe utility, allow it to reboot (very important!), and then install the current version from the links given earlier.

ok i did it..and then restarted and reinstalled it again...and now I have a box that popped up saying..."we have introduced a trial of the full version product. Would you like to start the trial? Accept or Decline" it also says "click here to see the details...and when you do that you get this screen

so what do I do? This is only a 14 day trial again????? and will expire like the other one?

ok...I declined...and then it asked if I wanted to run the scan I didn't b/c I already did that earlier today....I rebooted and now..I dont have the malwar icon in the bottom right tray???? I only have a desk top icon?? Did I do something wrong?

I am able to open it from the desktop...I only wanted to see it in the tray to see if it was gray again...I am not even gonna bother now....just curious..how often would you suggest I run a scan with it?

Once a week update it and run the full scan.

The icon in the tray means that "real time scanning" is on ... this would only come with the 'paid' version (and of course, the trial paid version).

You can use free MBam any time you would like to run a scan and/or update it, manually. It will not show in the task tray or update itself.
