New Sound Card Sound still choppy

Hi,

Now you have completed the two scans are they still quarantined or have they now been deleted?

Have you seen any improvement in performance?

What AntiVirus & Firewalls are you using to protect the system, there are various options out there, it is mainly down to preference & cost.

You could choose Malwarebyte & Microsoft Essentials (Both are free options) with the use of the Windows firewall.

I would suggest a full AntiVirus system scan too, if you would.

Still in quarantine, I use Kaspersky Internet Security Suite 2011, so I use that firewall.

I am a young retiree, (disability pension), and my PC, is one of the few things I can still do, so I tend not to go for the free Anti Virus and firewall.

Ok I can do that ........ but I have to ask the question, why?, what purpose will turning off microsoft's services have?, when the only time I have the problem is during an Acronis (the distortion is worse) backup, and Paragon (the distortion is there but not as bad) backup

I feel that the test may very well not produce any results, but I am trying to see if the combination of backup and another service is the cause of the problem. Backup should not cause this distortion, as you know. So lets take 10 minutes and see if the noise is the combination of back up and another service. When the conventional methods have been tried one need to think outside the box.

If I had started with you, I would suspect drivers or even a defective sound card.

Ok ok ok just asking, I do have a Gigabyte Motherboard, and I did have the Energy Saver Installed, I have just uninstalled it, am waiting for a burn to complete, then I will reboot, go into the BIOS make sure it is not enabled in there, and will get back to you

the uninstall of the energy save made no difference, when i do this clean boot do I disable all services or just the microsoft ones?

You must select hide MS services so that they are not disabled. They are the vital services that are needed for the operation of your computer. Everything but MS should be disabled. Be sure that you do this correctly, if you disable MS services you will have bigger problems than sound noise.

Manually shut down KIS 2011, as it is a known resource hog.

In services the only things ticked are KIS 2011, Belkin UPS Monitor (had the choppy sound prior to the installation of the new software), have manually shut it down.
Creative Audio Service.

XRAM 64MB & loads of other bits for 3D surround etc.

These cards are slightly different, capability & performance are the issues.

Thank you for all your input into this thread, I appreciate it, as I was starting to run out of ideas.

So Fiery,

I think from the investigations carried out & the results you have been reporting (Still "Choppy").

I would now suggest that you investigate: -

"Swapping" the sound card for a replacement with a card that has the onboard memory as per the above.
