Random Freezing in games/ at desktop

Be worried about it. At a conversion rate of 9 deg F to 5 deg C, you temp is about 18 degrees *higher* than they're reported 77/80. Also, 80 deg C is roughly 178 deg F - so that means you're toasting your Northbridge at over 200 deg F according to your temps.

Trust me - if you don't want to shorten the board life, start cooling that thing now.

What is 70C? Are we talking about the cpu, the northbridge or the gpu? If I understand the thread, you're saying a northbridge of 70C is nothing to worry about?

nope.. isn't the entire part of the northbridge..
ICH (I/O Controller Hub) is a part of the northbridge, we are talking about a PART of the nothbridge, probably with a dimension of 2x2mm.
On the hottest days it reached 80°C.
Btw now it works under stress near the 66° thnx to this fan solution -> http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3190/2765430284_da0417e828.jpg :)

anyway it isn't the problem.
i've played with FlatOut Carnage today, from 11am to 11pm :p
.. just now i've got an error from vista.
it say the driver NVLDDMKM didn't respond and so it as been correctly restored...
(translated form italian to eglish :) )

as well nvidia or microsoft made some mess with drivers :p

** EDIT **
I've installed the last beta 177.89 with OpenGL 3.0 activated via emulation and it looks much more stable but SimCity freeze anyway, while CivCity Rome works fine now.
At this point i'm pretty sure that the problem come from Anosotrophyc filter or maybe antialias or bloom... anyway i gues that one is the 'cause of the evil freeze

Are you sure with the psu I have I would have thought I have plenty of headroom to add another card for SLI?!

By my calculations I'm not using half of what I have...

Well after doing a load of research and speaking to various people I seem to now have a stable machine. In the end it was just a couple of BIOS tweaks to memory setting.

Ran in linked mode 1:1 and forced the bus to run at 1333 set timings to 6-5-5-18 and bumped up the voltage to 1.84 also set the CMD to T2 this seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks.

Ok, solved my problem completely!

My random freezing was caused by the Cool N Quiet being enabled...
well, I found out that i shouldnt use the latest bios for my motherboard... i must use 0804 version (was using 0904). it seems anything 0904 and abouve (bios that was designed to give Phenom compatibility) makes CnQ lock up Vista.
now as i write this, CnQ is working fine, and vista hasnt locked up since the bios downgrade a week ago.
