Small resource problem since recovery

Explorer for me is taking around 50mb. Try a SAS scan just in case.

That was normal for me too, I used to run around 30mb when I was doing what I normally do. A few days back I contacted HP support because I couldn't burn recovery disks. They're going to send me a set free so I'm going to use those disks to restore the pc. Hopefully that fixes my issues :)

You could also clean your chassis fans, it could be a hardware issue, but I don't think so. Try scheduling a chkdsk from the tools menu of your hard drive, when you right click it. Also run memetest86 or type mem into the start menu.

I'll run them in a bit. I don't even want to use this machine right now. Luckily FF isn't slowing down. But it takes forrrrrevvvverrrrr to open up a folder just so I could run procmon. So lame.

Try the diagnostics. Also keep a copy of the Avira rescue system antivirus .iso safe somewhere, along with the sysrescuecd.

I will, I'll post back in the morning what the results were. I'm half temped just to do system recovery again. Once I get to the first boot screen see if it still does it. If it still does it then I have a hardware problem. Which is covered by warranty :D

I think the problem was that I installed all of my applications before I did windows update. Everything is running tip top now.

Followed the steps of a guide posted here.

Clean install ( my case system recovery )
install SP2
install Anti-Virus
install all drivers
run windows update install everything
defrag the hard drive
then install all user programs, settings, pictures, games, etc.

Followed that guide and everything is well now :)

Could someone open task manager, then open a folder with a lot of sub folders then just browse through the folders to see if opening them up spikes the CPU?
