Today [2]

If the file really is JPEF, the problem is that it is not JPEG - probably just a typo somewhere along the way. Fix that and assuming it isn't too big, it should work fine. If not, convert the image to a filetype that is acceptable. It doesn't show a list (it may if you pick one that isn't acceptable - I'm not sure), but I'm sure the standard ones like JPG, GIF, BMP, etc... are fine.

To delete e-mail notifications, go to User CP, click Edit Options, and choose to prevent emails from administrators, prevent emails upon receipt of private messages, and/or receive no email notification for subscribed threads. It may take a few moments to kick in so give it some time - but eventually the changes you make will become effective.

I hope this helps.

Good luck!

Interesting --- all this talk about funerals. . . and I have a funeral to attend too. I had to cut my trip short and come home early to attend one of my closest friend's daughter's funeral tomorrow. What a tragedy! It's terrible enough when we lose our parents and elderly relatives (and friends) --- but when someone loses a child --- there's just not much in this world that's worse than that!

!! I'm sorry for your loss (and the terrible times ahead of you as you no doubt will need to console them beyond the funeral and perhaps for quite a while).

How old was the child? Was it medical reasons or some type of accident (or worse)? Somehow, an accident is worse for those left behind (well, worse than an accident is worse, but I'm hoping it was nothing like that) when it occurs because there is no time to prepare, but for the child it is probably better as they most likely suffer a lot less.

I lost a friend a few years ago who was only in his early 20's to an epileptic seizure because he wasn't taking his medicine properly. He's the youngest person I've known well (or related to someone I've known well) to ever die. It was devastating for everyone involved as he otherwise seemed so young, healthy, and full of energy.

Let's hope this is the last funeral we hear about from anyone for quite some time.

Yeah, it's really odd. A few years back I lost 2 of my uncles just 3 months apart from each other, then my grandfather.
This year has been just horrible....4 friends, a person I worked with, and now my grandmother. It comes in bunches for me and I don't like it one bit.

Me either. I've lost two very close relatives in the last few months, my niece is gravely ill, and now my dear friend's daughter (who was in her very early 30s) died from a bad heart. Very, very sad. It reminds us to appreciate every moment we have, and to treat our loved ones kindly. For we just don't know how long we'll have them.

Have a few chores (shopping), but plan to spend most of my time on VF (and my breathing which is acting up a bit today).

Plus an unpleasant situation in a major activity in my life appears to have been resolved with a mutual agreement for a "fresh start" - and I am very, very happy about that and sincerely hope it remains permanent.

I also broke 1400 posts, so I'm now less than 100 from the Gold Badge (a couple of weeks or maybe a little less should do it). That will do it for badges - barring the totally unexpected.

I didn't get as much accomplished here as I'd hoped yesterday because I had to take so many breaks due to my breathing (and I never got to those chores - but my wife did them so we're OK). Nothing on the agenda today except VF (as much as I can do) - though I'll only be online for a few more hours for now before going back to bed for 3-4 hours of sleep before waking up for good for the day (that multi-sleep schedule is one of the more unappealing side-effects of my medication).

Oh, and a visit from our friendly and expensive plumber for yet another leak (but I just basically need to let him in and then fill out the paperwork afterwards) - a major one that made us need to turn off the main supply (we have copper pipes and they have all eroded from too much mineral content in the water to the point where you can crush one with just finger pressure - but replacing them all with PVC is $10-13,000 (and I'm not sure if that includes the wall damage getting to the pipes) which we don't have so we just patch the problems as they occur (now about every month or two)). The sad part is I know how to do most of it and used to fix such things myself (after a trip to the hardware store for parts), but now it just wipes me out too much (and having a serious problem while using a propane torch on a ladder isn't such a smart idea).

And I just noticed (actually, someone sent me a VM congrats) I got my second rep medal today!!! That makes me feel great. I hope I can keep it up.

A site I go to each day had its database hacked and passwords stolen by a group working for 4chan. Passwords were then posted on Pirate Bay so... Today I will be changing passwords on a few sites as I am a bit lazy and use the same for several sites.
Then I will look into who hosts 4chan and take it up with them.
Petty rubbish I can do without.

So is this really you or someone impersonating you? How do we know this is the real you? LOL!!! Can you prove it's you without using information available to anyone here - especially someone who can access and change your profile? I suppose I couldn't really prove it myself unless my style of posting is recognized (even if it isn't proof).

Is this who you mean: 4chan.org WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions?

Or is it: 4chan.net WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions?

Or perhaps: Registry Data | Network Solutions. (too many requests to whois to get more details - might have better luck with the alternate web site address if this is the one)

Anyway, I hope the above contains the one you mean - otherwise, go to: 4chan.com WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions and put in the correct domain name to get the contact info.

The problem is that the above all seem basically legit and not the kind of places to do something like this (but maybe I'm wrong) - maybe it's a local site (like .au or whatever) and I'm just don't know which one. After looking up Pirate Bay, I wasn't inclined to even go to the websites - it seems a bit too risky. Don't tell me you actually went to Pirate Bay to check your listed password! I think if I dared to go there I'd be in malware detection/removal mode for quite some time.

To be honest, I wouldn't waste my time on this. You're just another of their thousands or more of victims and unless you have money to burn, at best you'll be able to lodge a complaint which will hit the trash bin before the desk of anyone who will care. Those who police such things must obviously be aware of it by now (probably before you) and will have more success (meaning - practically no more than you) dealing with the incident. Maybe they can at least get them removed from Pirate Bay (if it isn't already too late).

I'd go after the web site you visit since it was a lapse in their security that caused this to happen (even if they are just victims as well). They may not be the true criminals, but they may offer some type of concession to compensate for the problem their inadequate security caused. They're the ones most likely to do something for you (and perhaps tell you how to join what is probably a class-action suit by the site members - at least in the USA, that's what would almost certainly occur).

Anyway, sorry this happened and I hope this helps (and that you got all the important sites and if you do that, even places not on the web that use passwords as they too may need to be changed - some would for me).

Good luck, man!

Congrats again Loren.

Thanks, Chase. I think it'll be quite a while before I see another one of those all things considered. Just the Gold Badge in a week or two (more like two considering the last 2 days), and a pip now and then, and otherwise just posting like normal.

Today I have been catching up on the today thread.
I really need to get active on here again.....

My dad has gone up to Benham Valance for a couple of days for work training, that's where his work is based and where the call centre used to be, they have moved the call centre to Dubai or somewhere like that now.
Today I have my science mock exam, I had my Graphic Products exam on Monday, got the results back and I had got 34 1/2 out of 60. I'm actually really pleased with it, even though it don't sound like alot, I thought I'd do worse...

Started to put my Christmas decorations and stuff aswell, all good! :D

Take a look at this. It's the first time I've ever seen this where nobody with any badges but me is logged in. I was amazed and had to take a shot.

I did one a few days ago, where there were only about two of us, and felt the same way about the screenshot. Only you. Oh dear, but I am sure things will liven up soon!

After all, I am online!
