Just out of curiosity, how many different game playing devices do you have? Isn't one for the big screen (and maybe one for the backback) - plus of course the computer - good enough? Is Wii now considered the best or is it X-Box or something else entirely? Not that I'm looking to start playing games, just curious as I know very little about the subject and wondered what's the current top-of-the-line - and is it because of the device or because of the games that are available for it?

A site I go to each day had its database hacked and passwords stolen by a group working for 4chan. Passwords were then posted on Pirate Bay so... Today I will be changing passwords on a few sites as I am a bit lazy and use the same for several sites.
Then I will look into who hosts 4chan and take it up with them.
Petty rubbish I can do without.

So is this really you or someone impersonating you? How do we know this is the real you? LOL!!! Can you prove it's you without using information available to anyone here - especially someone who can access and change your profile? I suppose I couldn't really prove it myself unless my style of posting is recognized (even if it isn't proof).

Is this who you mean: 4chan.org WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions?

Or is it: 4chan.net WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions?

Or perhaps: Registry Data | Network Solutions. (too many requests to whois to get more details - might have better luck with the alternate web site address if this is the one)

Anyway, I hope the above contains the one you mean - otherwise, go to: 4chan.com WHOIS domain registration information from Network Solutions and put in the correct domain name to get the contact info.

The problem is that the above all seem basically legit and not the kind of places to do something like this (but maybe I'm wrong) - maybe it's a local site (like .au or whatever) and I'm just don't know which one. After looking up Pirate Bay, I wasn't inclined to even go to the websites - it seems a bit too risky. Don't tell me you actually went to Pirate Bay to check your listed password! I think if I dared to go there I'd be in malware detection/removal mode for quite some time.

To be honest, I wouldn't waste my time on this. You're just another of their thousands or more of victims and unless you have money to burn, at best you'll be able to lodge a complaint which will hit the trash bin before the desk of anyone who will care. Those who police such things must obviously be aware of it by now (probably before you) and will have more success (meaning - practically no more than you) dealing with the incident. Maybe they can at least get them removed from Pirate Bay (if it isn't already too late).

I'd go after the web site you visit since it was a lapse in their security that caused this to happen (even if they are just victims as well). They may not be the true criminals, but they may offer some type of concession to compensate for the problem their inadequate security caused. They're the ones most likely to do something for you (and perhaps tell you how to join what is probably a class-action suit by the site members - at least in the USA, that's what would almost certainly occur).

Anyway, sorry this happened and I hope this helps (and that you got all the important sites and if you do that, even places not on the web that use passwords as they too may need to be changed - some would for me).

Good luck, man!

I just read through the extensive Wikipedia article on 4chan. . . it's pretty terrifying when you see examples of what harm huge numbers of anonymous people running amok can do! All I can say, is that it's a real shame that the 4chan posters don't use their collective energies to create some 'good' in this world --- just think what an incredible difference that would make!

I only play PC game right now, and if you a powerful enough system, you can get better graphics than the consoles. For a console I would have to go with an Xbox 360 Elite :)

Um, well, I've got my computer, use that for San Andreas+Multiplayer mod, Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, couple of flight simulators.
Got my Nintendo Wii for Wii Fit, Wii Sports, and loads more games.
I suppose that you could argue Nintendo DS Lite is the backpack console, I have an R4 card for that, so I can just download the games from the internet and stick them on the card.

IMO, Xbox is the best at the moment, but Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 are pretty similar with the release of Xbox Kinect and Playstation Move, but I guess the games have got something to do with it too, there's some games that are only on Xbox or Playstation, so you have to take that into consideration too.

I'll edit this post soon to add some more, just come home from school... ;)

This is nothing new, but needs reposting IMO:

The injuries cause by the biscuit:

29%: Splashed or scalded by a hot drink with the biscuit.
28%: Choking on dry crumbs from the biscuit.
20%: Being bitten by a pet wanting the biscuit.
7%: Poking themselves in the eye with the biscuit.
3%: Falling off the chair while reaching for the biscuit.
1 man: Getting stuck in wet concrete to retrieve a discarded "the biscuit".

NOTE: Percentages don't match up as they come from different studies. They are just to give a rough approximation. Percentages from one study are in bold, the other not.

Seems like 4chan can do some good
Dusty the cat
In mid-February 2009, two videos featuring the physical abuse of a domestic cat named Dusty by a person calling himself "Timmy" were posted on YouTube. The 4chan community was able to track down the originator of the videos, Kenny Glenn, a fourteen-year-old from Lawton, Oklahoma, and passed his details to his local police department. As a result of this, a suspect was arrested and the cat was treated by a veterinarian and taken to a safe place.

I didn't realist they were the creators of "RickRolled" and "Pedo Bear", I thought it was someone else lol...

Anyways, today, no more tests! Until January

Doctor's appointment this afternoon - and during a winter weather advisory (2" snow or thereabouts). Considering how little I travel, you'd think they could plan these things more conveniently. At least I'll have a 4WD today - so that should help. Plan to discuss sleeping patterns and what can be done to make them more normal again (without reducing my breathing medication).

Badge isn't possible today (35 posts is almost certainly too many in one day - at least for me in this forum) - but I'm pretty sure before the end of the weekend - the anticipation has my blood pressure up so I hope to get it behind me shortly.

I can hardly believe 4Chan isn't shut down (depite saving the cat - which was a very good thing). Then again, it would just start up again under another name within minutes or hours - so I guess it's easier to track what they do if they leave things as they are. It seems to me they need to be infiltrated by agents who are assigned to assume some form of leadership roles and then, while still doing some of the bad things to maintain their cover, try to slowly add more and more good things so the change is subtle and goes unnoticed - and it'll probably take years. And that's just one place like that. I'm sure there are hundreds all over the world (some probably a heck of a lot worse).

Hmm... ^
Today my computer is being awkward and won't boot...
Good news though, got my Business Studies mock exam results back and, well, I got a B, I'm really happy with that, since the last time I tries that exam I got a D, so yeah!:party:

I assume if you need help with the computer, you'll just ask. We'll be happy to assist however we can.

Congrats on the great improvement in your exam results. You call it a mock exam, so I assume that means the "real" one is yet to come and that's the only one that really counts. If you don't like the score on the "real" one, can you take it again and use the better score or do you only get to take it once or even if you can take it multiple times, does it show all the different results anyway?

Hope there's some good news at your doctor's visit today Lorien, and that travel to and fro isn't too horrendous. . .

Yeah, the whole 4chan (and similar websites) situation is pretty scary (despite the saving of the cat --- which I'm grateful for. The thought of abuse to people is terrible enough --- but the thought of abuse to innocent animals is just unthinkable!!!!)

PS Don't worry so much about the badge(s) --- it's not that important and certainly not worth getting your blood pressure up. You're a great poster! If the badges come more slowly, so what? We're not going anywhere. . . ;)

Doctor visit was fine. Added a new medication. We'll see it that helps. (And the drive was OK - I grew up in Connecticut so a little snow is no big deal for me - unlike a lot of other drivers around here and it's THEM I need to worry about).

I agree about animal cruelty - especially to cats (who have been part of my life since my late teens as my parents always told me "I was enough" - LOL!). I honestly don't know if I would have a sane reaction if I saw someone harming a cat (especially one of ours) - I hope I could control a lethal response.

I'm not really that concerned about the badge - but it's so close and I've worked so hard to get to this point that I just want to get it over with - again probably not today even with only about 20 to go (that's a lot given the volumes here) but almost certainly by Sunday which will do fine.
